"what is it, kai? did something happen to him during class?"
heuningkai fell silent as he sighed, gathering up all his residual courage to speak to chenle about what the hell happened in the class. he approached the older, beckoning him to lower his voice as he did not want anyone to know about the grave situation he landed himself in.
"h-hyung...did you notice something wrong with jisung when he was there with you?" heuningkai queried, his tone solemn and quiet, which caused chenle's concern levels to skyrocket.
chenle wanted to snap at the younger, but he did not want to scare him to death, nor did he wanted to make anything worse. he sighed as he spoke out in a voice as silent as he could. "i guess...his bag was there on the hallway, and he came out of the bathroom when my classes finished- wait, did he...attend his classes...?"
that was enough for heuningkai to piece together the clues on what happened to jisung during the small chase that caused him to disappear into nowhere. he sighed once again, words struggling to come out his mouth. "that makes sense...i guess. he ran out of the classroom after i found out."
"found out...what exactly...?" chenle asked, his voice quivering in fear.
heuningkai heaved a deep breath, preparing himself to face the older freaking out in front of him.
"hyung...he cuts himself. he couldn't handle it when he did not get the grades he wanted, so he resorted to...doing this instead..."
a heavy silence befell the two as tears fell out of chenle's eyes, his gaze weak and drooping down, silently cursing at himself every now and then. his stance wobbled, holding onto heuningkai's shoulder for support as he sobbed silently in defeat.
heuningkai was practically helpless as he knew that he is of no use trying to solve this problem— it will only make things worse as jisung would consider himself a burden. he sighed as he wordlessly consoled the older, before gathering his residual courage and speak up on what he must do instead.
"hyung...i know...that this is a l-lot to take in...b-but...you're the only person who can bring him back...to how he used to be..."
🍂
reaching the sweet yet uncanny comfort of their dorms, jisung dropped his bag carelessly near his bedroom's door, before flopping into the couch. the remedial classes had really taken a toll on him, both mentally and physically.
tired beyond exhaustion, he closed his eyes, falling into an oblivious endeavour of sleep that was oh so flawed. a weirdly pleasant smell wafted into the room, and it was definitely coming from their own dorms.
sniffing around like an overly grown two-legged daegal, he silently walked inside the kitchen to see his beloved boyfriend humming to himself as he casually cooked up whatever he was trying to make, without a care in the world— contrasting from the first culinary encounter he had.
"when did he learn to cook...?" jisung muttered as he approached chenle, snaking his arms around his waist so as to not freak the older out. he buried his face on to his neck; it had been too long since he felt his warmth properly.
everything felt so serendipitous, like nothing could have ever gone wrong...
...until jisung realized that chenle was sniffling.
chenle switched off the appliances as he turned back to a concerned jisung, worried sick on why he was crying. numerous thoughts clouded the younger's head, cooking up theories on who must have hurt him.
