the whole incident had chenle in shambles.
he felt his stance cripple as his world crashed down on him, the figurative burden he was carrying was far more grave than he expected.
apparently, the venom he retorted from his words also poisoned himself, a pang of pain and guilt combined fell from the skies to impale him as realization crashed down on him that he rejected the one who he held dear for a span of almost a year.
clutching his abdomen, he scurried to his room without saying a single phrase to jisung other than his incoherent slurs of sobs and sniffles. before jisung could react, chenle shut the door on him, his muffled cries still heard through the wooden screen.
"what happened? please...talk to me for once!" jisung pleaded desperately as he knocked on the wood, waiting patiently for his dear neighbour to answer...albeit there was no response from the younger whatsoever.
jisung clutched his head as he let out a sigh. he knew something was horribly wrong when chenle was breaking down as he held daegal in his hands, pleading him to exit the place as fast as possible. worry bubbled up inside him on whether chenle ended up in grave trouble or not.
"daddy...what's wrong with aunt lele...? why is he not talking to us...?" the voice of his daughter brought jisung out of his thoughts. he glanced at the child, who was sniffling as she clutched a squirming daegal in her hands. her tone started to falter as she stuttered out her ultimate question. "is he...angry at us...?"
sighing, jisung crouched down and ruffled his daughter's hair, his voice breaking as he tried his best to reassure her that this was nothing and chenle had no issues whatsoever. "don't worry about it, darling...your aunt's a bit sad because daegal tried to get out and run somewhere far away. n-no big deal...he'll come back soon anyways..."
bae felt daegal's squirms getting stronger as the little fluffball cannot fathom her beloved owner in complete distress, whining and begging bae to let her go. having the wrong idea engraved in her mind, bae immediately came to the conclusion that daegal was being petty and clingy to chenle instead. her grip on the bichon became stronger as she scoffed, "no, daegal, i'm not letting you out, you've been a really bad girl..."
jisung could not help but feel sorry for the poor bichon pleading bae to let her see what is going on with her owner. heaving a heavy breath, he cannot handle her condition anymore. "bae, let daegal go," he commanded, to which bae immediately heed.
bae let her go as she watched the poor bichon run to the door as fast as she could, jumping and throwing herself on two legs as she scratched the wood, letting out loud, whiny barks of nothing but pure desperation.
chenle, who was flopped on the floor sobbing his heart out, his sobs grew less intense as his ears picked up the sound of his daughter's voice from the commotion. laboriously pulling himself up, he barely had enough leverage to pull on the handle abruptly, swinging the door slightly ajar and letting her in.
the fluffball immediately jumped to chenle's arms, seeking comfort in his warmth as she let out slight whimpers, in a way of asking what went wrong. chenle could not help but let his tears of agony blur his vision again, clutching her close to his frame.
chenle felt the door open as he heard a familiar voice speak out, albeit hesitantly. "what happened...? please, we can fix that! just...tell me what happened...did that...college student...harrass you or something...?"
chenle felt his heart break even more as he hears the older paint the love of his life in a bad light, and was pretty much annoyed by the whole ordeal. "leave...please...i don't want to talk about it..." he spoke out in a broken voice amidst the sniffles.
"b-but-"
"i said, leave! i don't want to hear from any of you!" chenle screeched as he shut the door, trapping himself and daegal inside. even though jisung and bae flinched at the initial scream, he waved it off and comforted his daughter who was pretty much shaken by the incident.
jisung just wished chenle will come back in a while after his emotional breakdown, but little did he know that chenle would not come back the same.

"w-where...am i...?"
jisung stuttered out as he opened his eyes, his frame weakened and rendered partly immobile. glancing around, he could deduce that this was definitely not jaemin's and jeno's dorms, but rather, a place he had not visited in months on end.
mark's and renjun's home.
"i'm glad you're at least alive," mark's distant and melancholic voice spoke out from the corner. "junnie was worried sick on whether you would ever wake up, you were unconscious for who knows how long."
jisung merely looked at the older lifelessly as he approached him, gently holding his hand in his. "jaemin cannot let you in the dorms anymore; the teachers are doing daily checks and shit. so...you're staying with us for the time-being."
jisung fell silent as he glanced around the familiar yet not-so-familiar room as memories started to resurface, so many good ones, covered by a few bad ones much to his memory.
once, this was his comfort place, where every turning point of his relationship with chenle was found like a small treasure in the midst of the woods, morphing it to what it is today...although that relationship is completely torn apart.
where chenle first confessed to him and blossomed their near-perfect relationship.
where they spent their first intimate session together.
and now, it's all just a remnant of the past, horrbile memories surrounding the place as he recalled renjun snapping at the two for finding out chenle was a male and not a female, and how they had parted ways which only caused his sanity to plummet substantially.
jisung was brought out of his thoughts as he heard mark heave a sigh, approaching him and holding his hand. "look...i know this...isn't the right time...but...can you...please forgive us...for what we...did...? junnie has not eaten properly in days...he keeps on fretting about...how he could bring chenle back so that you would forgive him. it's...honestly really hard for us too...just like how you cared for chenle...i care about renjun too. please...find it in your heart to forgive us..."
a painful silence took over the two as jisung fell deep in thought, his forehead scrunched into a frown— something that mark never had seen from the younger, showing strong emotions. he glared at mark as he made a decision in his head, his hands clenched into fists. "i'm not forgiving renjun-hyung. as much as it hurts him, i don't care anymore. he...ruined my life, hyung...lele's never coming back...because of this..." jisung's voice faltered as his spoke out the latter sentence.
composing himself, mark let out a sigh and nodded in the affirmative, standing up as he started to walk away. "it's fine, i'll tell renjun about this. it's of...no big deal anyways. but you're staying with us here, i don't want you to be alone anymore, got it, sungie?"
jisung wanted to protest against this as he would most likely lose the rest of his sanity with renjun next to him all day and night, but stood indifferent as he watched mark stumble over to his room to find his phone.
