the next day dawned, and thankfully, chenle was finally able to walk properly.
the two were finally getting ready to go to college and probably suffer the amount of second-hand embarrassment from yesterday, although judging from how jisung's classmates reacted at another one of his incidents, it was certain that the jeers and teases are dampened down...at least that's what he hoped for.
chenle, on the other hand, really did not care for what others might think of their activity 2 days back; he was more concerned on whether he'll limp in front of his two best friends who will keep on asking him about the juicy details.
chenle clutched jisung's arm wordlessly as the two walked into the college's entrance, tuning out any noises the students nearby were making. chenle was basically glued on to the younger, not wanting to let go at all, but they had to separate ways as they walked into their classrooms, albeit reluctantly.
chenle walked inside his classroom, only to be greeted with the lack of his two best friends— probably late for their classes like usual. sighing in relief, he waddled over to the back seats and threw his bag down, waiting impatiently for his two fellow hoes to come over as fast as they could.
within seconds, the yells and scolds of a very tired teacher was heard, along with the wheezes and chuckles of his two best friends. the two barged in and took to their heels, crashing on to their seats and as a result, on to him. they were still laughing their heart out as the teacher basically gave up scolding the two grown ass college students like little children.
"what did you two do this time?" chenle asked amusingly, wheezing in the process. jaemin caught his breath as he held on to the desk for support before finally sinking on to his seat, still wheezing at what he did. to answer his question, yangyang decided to help jaemin instead. "nana's high on coffee, and he thought it was a great idea to buy more coffee right when the cafeteria was about to close."
instead of his usual wheezes, chenle was now concerned for his childish best friend, worried if he got himself into trouble. he frowned as he looked at jaemin worriedly, which made him to immediately stop wheezing. "why did you do such a thing, nana?! i don't want you to get into trouble!" chenle scolded him like if he was a child, which confused the two.
"geez, lele, you didn't have to go full-on motherly instinct on nana..." yangyang trailed off, which immediately struck a nerve in chenle as he realized what exactly he just did. he stared at the two as if they committed a murder in front of him, before dolphin screaming as he hit his head on the table.
"bitch, what's wrong?" jaemin asked as he raised an eyebrow, partly confused yet partly worried for the younger. chenle lifted his head up, his expression looked like he was about to cry any moment soon.
"i-i...don't know actually, i just...don't want you to get hurt..." chenle stuttered out, confused about his own feelings. "i'm just...concerned for everyone these days...i just don't get it..."
jaemin and yangyang looked at each other as they listened to the maknae's reasoning, before it clicked in their singular shared braincell. jaemin chuckled as he held chenle's hand in his, beaming at him wholesomely. "you know why? you're just worried about your boyfriend ever since that...incident. that's why you're getting protective. it's fine, hoe. at least we won't get in trouble anymore..."
"but that makes no sense!" chenle snapped as he looked at the two in disgust, standing up in the process. "why the hell should i be worried about you two acting like literal toddlers in front of me?! i should be worried about him instead then!"
the two were taken aback in a null and void reply of awkward silence once again, now concerned for the younger who is literally turning into the organic version of the pure metal sodium. not even a mere moment passed by as chenle realized what he just did, once again, and sank down on the seat, groaning as he did.
