it was a melancholic day for chenle, but much worse than any other melancholic day there is.
being almost 7 months in, his mind spiraled as stinging painful thoughts stirred up his conscience, tears falling out of his eyes as he did. his fingers trembled, the voices in his head only grew as he kept on denying the date that it is today.
february 5, 2022.
jisung's birthday.
(a/n: k so, uh, imagine my man is 19 rn, my math sucked ;-;)
and the worst part is that, bae was begging her dad to actually bring her to the lawn near the college where he previously studied and dropped out from, which means there is a very huge chance that he might bump into jisung...and he certainly did not want that.
being all discombobulated, the last thing chenle wanted to see was his ex-boyfriend, to make things all worse.
chenle could only wish as bae kept on pleading her dad to bring her to the park with daegal, although he had not spoken a single word of approval yet. trying to force himself into thinking that his hyung had some other work to do, he sighed in pretentious relief as he leaned on the couch.
after a while, jisung emerged out of the room with daegal in his hands, while bae tagged along, happier than she usually is. he beamed wholesomely at the younger, about to ask him the one question he dreaded. "say...chenle, bae has been asking me to go to the park near the college dorms. can you come with us?"
chenle's breath hitched as he looked at the older like if he committed a murder. tears threatening to come out of his eyes, he stuttered badly whilst trying to give an answer. "n-no...i-i c-can't...walk..."
"come on, aunt lele, please...?" bae pleaded again, daegal following suit as she leaned on his legs, whimpering as she did. "it's been ages, we have to go there and touch some grass!"
(a/n: that was intentional and a clear insult to myself because i haven't touched grass in a long time (punching myself in the face isn't considered touching grass))
"b-but why though...? remember...last time...daegal a-almost went missing...! w-we don't...want that...do we...?" chenle spoke out, hoping that a clear excuse will bail him out of this condition.
"yeah, but this time, i kept her on a leash so she won't go anywhere," jisung stated, but his expression changed into a concerned one. "is there...something bothering you, chenle...? perhaps, you want to talk about it?"
"uh, a-actually, i-i have no problem...!" chenle stuttered badly, panicking that jisung almost caught in with his emotional turmoil. "i-i was just...uh, worried about daegallie leaving, t-that's all...!"
"if that's the case, let's go then, i'll take the car," jisung beamed as he let daegal on the ground, before leaving out the door to start his car. chenle, on the other hand, started to pray to every single god he knew to not let his ex-boyfriend outside the place while they were there.

"happy birthday, sungie!"
jaemin chanted as he pulled the younger into a big hug, who was still confused on what the fuck was happening. the poor blonde only woke up a while before, so his mind was fogged up as what a sleep deprived person at mornings end up to be.
"hyung, what the fuck..." jisung muttered as jaemin still squeezed him into a hug, almost asphyxiating him. jeno chuckled as he wordlessly gestured jaemin to let go, before explaining what was happening with his iconic eye smile. "it's your birthday, you forgot this fast?"
