it was a stormy evening. clouds covered up the orangish sky, darkening into a murky brown as the breeze grew stronger and stronger, but jisung was nowhere to be seen.
chenle gazed tiredly through the window as he sat on the bed, waiting impatiently for jisung to come back from his work. apparently, today was a special day for his work as a producer, and hence jisung had to visit a faraway studio promising that he would come back in the evening...but he had not come back yet and it was making chenle feel feverish.
chenle's gaze wandered towards bae, sleeping soundly near him on the bed, without a care in the world. the child was repeatedly asking whether her dad was back or not, until she was too tired to continue on. worry bubbled up inside him as he kept on looking through the window, forcing himself to think positively.
a knock on the door caught his attention almost immediately. chenle heaved a relieved sigh as he grabbed the mattress as support, slowly pulling himself up. the growing weight on him made him stumble as his wobbly legs tried to stay still, his hands immediately clawing the walls as support.
once he finally gained his balance, he padded the wooden floor, each step in painstaking delay. gradually, he reached the familiar doorway and grabbed the handle, opening the wood, to reveal someone he never expected to see.
it was renjun, showing a tired yet stoic expression but it was evident that he had been crying prior to visiting him.
nevertheless, renjun forced a wobbling smile as he glanced at the younger, gathering all of his residual courage to speak. "h-how's everything going..." he trailed off as his attention when to chenle's frame, his eyebrows scrunching up. "a-are you..."
"yes, gege, i'm...pregnant," chenle sighed as he started to explain, albeit reluctantly. "but...why did you come...here...? i thought you hated me..."
the lack of anger in the younger's voice caught renjun off-guard. he half-expected chenle to be even angrier than him since he was the type to be really loud unlike jisung, who was tolerant to extreme amounts of debauchery. "a-are you...not angry at me...?" renjun stuttered out, genuinely curious.
"i am...but i'm just...too tired to care anymore..." chenle spoke out as he let out a sigh, scrunching his eyebrows as he looked at the older disapprovingly. without saying a word, he turned back to take a seat on the couch, and signaled renjun to come in, to which he heed awkwardly.
renjun sat opposite to chenle, avoiding any sort of eye contact as he gathered all his words to speak out what he promised to jisung. heaving heavy breaths, he glanced at chenle as he swallowed the lump in his throat, choking out his words as he did. "s-see...c-can i...ask you...f-for one thing...?" he queried.
"i...don't want you to...but at the same time, i feel like it's important..." chenle trailed off as he went deep in thought. "anyways, what is it...?"
"c-can't you...go b-back...?" renjun stuttered out badly as he choked on his words, tears blurring his vision as he did. "w-wouldn't...e-everything...be a-alright if you...went back...a-and sort things out...? i-is it...t-too much...to ask...?"
time stopped as chenle heard that sentence come from him.
anger bubbled up inside chenle as he clutched the sides of the couch, his head drooped down as he gritted his teeth, scrunching his eyebrows into a frown as he did. he jolted his head up to look at renjun for a mere moment before losing all his calm. "who the hell are you to tell me what to do about my relationship?!"
"i broke up with him for a goddamn reason, and you can't just fucking tell me to go back just to save your own goddamn reputation! just fuck off already, i don't want you here, ever again!" chenle screamed in nothing but pure rage, startling the older.
