KABANATA 1

[Kabanata 1 - Ang paglalakbay sa nakaraan]

I'm Selene Elara Fernandez, a young actress and a model in the Philippines. Mapa-babae man o lalaki, bata o matanda ay talaga namang iniidolo nila ako that's why I was named as the nation's first love of the Philippines. 

People always thought of me as a foreigner or dayuhan because of my physical appearance. I agree coz I'm mixed race. My father is Spanish and my mother is a Filipina. 

Siguro kay Dad ko nakuha ang ilan sa mga facial features ko kaya ganito, but there are still some features naman na nakuha ko kay Mom coz' she's drop-dead gorgeous af kaya di na ako magtataka about sa sinabi ni Dad na na-love at first sight daw siya kay Mom.

I have a younger sister, she's 15 years old. Madaming nagsasabi na kamukha niya raw si Jillian Ward. May mga nag-sscout sa kanya na maging model kaso ayaw niya. Introvert ang kapatid ko, bookworm at ayaw ng spotlight.

I was born in Madrid, Spain but I grew up here in the Philippines. I'm fluent in speaking Spanish but most of the time, I use English and Tagalog kapag nakikipag-usap. Nakakapagsalita lang ako ng Spanish kapag kausap ko si Dad and my relatives from Spain. In short, I'm trilingual.

Last year, I received an award for becoming Best actress of all the time. Akalain mo 'yun natalo ko pa yung ibang mga bigating artista na mas matanda and mas matagal na sa showbiz. 16 years old ako nung nag-start ako sa career kong 'to and now I'm 19 turning 20 soon this coming November.

"Did you already read your script, Selene?", my manager asked.

"Yes, of course."

"Baka binasa-basa mo lang na naman ah. Remember I told you hindi ka pwedeng mag-adlib dito dahil historical drama ang ginaganapan mo. Ako malalagot nito kay Direk niyan eh."

"Don't worry ako nang bahala. I'm the best actress, remember?"

"It's your time na. Tara na at hindi pwedeng ma-late ang best actress. Mahirap na kasama mo pa naman sa shooting ang best friend mo."

"She's not my best friend! Traydor siya! Dahil sa kanya patong-patong ang issues ko na wala namang katotohanan. Such a two-faced b*tch backstabber."

"Oh 'wag mo nang isipin 'yan. Ma-sstress ang aming magandang best actress."

Pumasok na kami sa loob ng van at dumiretso papuntang Intramuros sa Manila. Doon kasi ang shooting place namin for this day para sa upcoming historical drama and ako pala ang main character dito. It's about a love story between a Governor-General and a criminal's daughter.

While we were on our way, I looked outside the window and saw a tricycle with plate number 1818. I'm kinda shocked because I've been seeing repeating numbers these days lately. And this one, parang may kakaiba akong naramdaman the moment I saw it. 

But anyways, nevermind na maybe it's just rare to see those numbers that's why I'm feeling something weird.

Pagdating sa Intramuros, nag-start na rin kami mag-shoot. Naging productive naman ang daloy pero andaming cut dahil siguro di ako sanay magsalita ng super lalim na tagalog. Plus yung tono pa ng pagsasalita ko parang iba yung accent. Why naman ang hirap kasi bigkasin yung ibang super lalim na words, nakaka-bulol.

Habang nagpapahinga kami sa dressing room, pumasok si Direk at kinausap kami ng manager ko. Ang sabi niya mag-seat in daw ako sa Philippine History class ni Prof. Salazar para magka-idea about sa history ng Philippines. Mahirap daw kasi historical drama ang ginaganapan ko pero wala akong alam sa Philippine history. So, nag-agree na lang ako coz' I'm the best actress right? I should get that award again this year.
