Deep breath in, deep breath out.
Twilight stared at the door of the library exit, terrified to open it, knowing the surplus of students behind it. She had slept in the library that night after some long hours of research. Of course she had great difficulty opening books and writing notes as she didn't know how to use her hands, but after using her teeth to carry and hold things, it became so much easier. No one was around to judge her anyways.
She found an old dusty yearbook from one of the past years and inside that yearbook was a photo. A photo of all her friends TOGETHER.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash even had their arms around eachother which seemed strange going off what Applejack was saying yesterday. Now Twilight was more curious than ever to what happened. In Equestria, nothing could break their friendship apart. While she was here, maybe she could help.
Twilights hand was shaking as she reached towards to door handle. She slowly turned the knob and revealed the bustling hallway
overrun with teenagers.
'Deep breath in, deep breath out,' she repeated to herself.
'Let's go.'
Twilight kept her head down slightly as she guided herself through the small gaps of people. She didn't notice it at first but in her peripheral vision she saw groups of people turning their heads her way. She felt hundred of eyes on her and she heard light snickering from behind. 'They can't be laughing at me,' she thought, 'no one knows who I am, I don't need to worry.'
She could see her locker a few meters away.
Almost there.
But before she got to her locker an arm swiftly reached out from her right and pulled her into a room. Twilight heard a door lock and she turned around immediately out of fear and confusion. Infront of her was a girl with white skin and amethyst hair. Could it be...?
Before she could finish her thought process the girl dived towards her and pulled a measuring tape from her pocket. The girl went to work speeding around Twilights body, taking her measurements.
Twilight watched in confusion, "What are yo-," "PERFECT," Rarity shouted, rushing to her bag and pulling out an extremely bright green dress. "Wha-," Twilight tried to continue, but her voice was muffled by the girl shoving the dress over her head.
"Yes yes much better, now no one will know who you are," Rarity said smiling, placing her hands on her hips admiring her work.
"Why would I want to be-," "AND I must style your dog, he's just sooo adorable," Rarity interrupted again, approaching Twilights bag containing Spike and giving his chin a scratch. "You know with a little work I think I could make him look like a rabbit." Rarity continued, removing her hands from Spikes face.
"A rabbit?" Twilight asked, raising her eyebrows in confusion. "Yes darli-"
Before Rarity finished she was interrupted by a slamming door behind her.
"There you are Twilight!" Applejack called from outside, walking into the room.
"So much for a disguise..." Rarity huffed, crossing her arm and pouting her lips.
"I've been looking all over for you..." Applejack continued. "Me too." Fluttershy said softly, entering after Applejack. Pinkie popped down from the top of the door and shouted "Me three!" greatly contrasting to Fluttershy's quietness. How did she even get up there?
"I like your new look!" Pinkie chirped, bouncing over to Twilight and scanning her up and down.
"I do have an eye for these things, not that YOU'D care..." Rarity responded with slight aggression in her tone.
"WHAT?" Pinkie shouted, her face starting to heat up. 'This is strange,' Twilight thought. "What do you mean she doesn't care?" Twilight asked, turning to face Pinkie. Behind the pink teenager, Applejack and Fluttershy were furiously shaking their heads and motioning for Twilight to stop talking. "oh...nevermind." Twilight said slowly, still eyeing Applejack and Fluttershy, curious to what that was about.
Twilights thoughts then went back to why they were all here. "Wait, why were you looking for me?"
The four girls eyed eachother in alarm, challenging who was going to break the news first.
"Oh...she hasn't seen it yet..." Fluttershy whispered, breaking the silence. She slid behind Applejack and hid, hoping she wouldn't be asked any further questions.
"Seen what?"
Pinkie took a deep breath in, "It's really not that bad..." She said, pulling out a pink laptop from nowhere. Taping a few keys, a video was brought up on a social media platform and it started playing. The girls crowded around Twilight as she sat to watch.
It was horrible. Someone had videoed Twilight when she was in the library researching last night. Due to her lack of knowledge on the human world, the video was an embarrassing montage of her failing at a multitude of basic tasks that was seemingly easy to any other person. It was clearly created to obliterate any chance Twilight had of becoming Fall Formal Princess.
Pinkie scratched her fluff of hair nervously, "I take that back...it's pretty bad!"
"But...this all happened yesterday! Has everyone in the school seen it already?!" Twilight asked the girls worried.
Her question was met with awkward silence and glances exchanged between the four girls. That answered her question well enough.
"There's no way anyone will vote for me now after seeing this!" Twilight cried, slumping her head onto the desk.
"Not that it'll make a difference, but i'll still vote for you." Fluttershy said quietly. "You were so nice to stand up to Sunset Shimmer for me." She continued, smiling at her. Twilight slowly lifted up her head and returned the smile weakly.
"If you still want to run i'm sure there's something we can do to help!" Pinkie said, placing her hands on Twilights shoulders.
"Word of advice, I wouldn't ask for HER help, she never takes ANYTHING seriously." Fluttershy said, raising her voice slightly
"UGH, why do you have to be so awful to me!" Pinkie exclaimed, hands forming tight fists beside her body.
"Ugh, don't play innocence Pinkie Pie you are no better than she is." Rarity accused, sharply turning her head in Fluttershy's direction.
Pinkie grabbed Rarity by her shoulders and shook her. "AND WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?"
"I'd be happy to offer up my assistance as well Pinkie, to someone who would APPRECIATE WHAT I HAD TO OFFER!" Rarity cried in response, leaning forward with her hands on her hips.
Fluttershy, Pinkie and Rarity all started talking over eachother at once, shouting insults and false accusations over a stressed Twilights head.
"Listen to yall carryin on, get over it and MOVE ON!" Applejack spoke over them, tossing an apple core in the bin she had eaten while watching the girls argue. She crossed her arms and rolled her eyes at their immaturity.
"Just like how YOUVE gotten over what happened with RAINBOW DASH?" Rarity resorted back, glaring at Applejack.
Applejacks emotions on her face changed from irritated to dejected, almost heartbroken. "She said she'd get the softball team to make an appearance at my bake sale, I tell everyone they're coming and not one of em shows up!" She said in defence, voice increasing in volume and cracking slightly.
Then her tone changed. "She made a liar out of me...that's different." she said softly, turning her head away from Rarity.
"IS NOT!" The other three girls called in unison.
"Is too!" Applejack fought back, turning to face the girls again.
All four girls started their arguing again. Twilight watched in a painful awe, she couldn't bare seeing her friends fight like this. Their screams made it hard for Twilight to think. She tried to muffle their cries by covering her ears with her hands but she could still hear them. It was so loud. Nothing would process in her mind in this environment. She was incredibly overwhelmed, It built up and she couldn't take it anymore.
"STOP!" She shouted over all of them. "All of you!"
They went silent. She had to say SOMETHING. She could think much clearer now that their bickering had stopped and came up with an idea quickly.
"I have something to show you..." She said calmly, reaching for the yearbook in her backpack.
She flicked a few pages back and forth until she found what she was looking for.
"You were friends once...all of you..."
On the page infront of her, was the photo of the five of them. Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rarity, and Rainbow.
"Ah the Freshman Fair, y'all remember that?" Applejack said softly to the others, turning her head towards them.
"Yes," Rarity said with a nostalgic smile on her face.
"Something happened," Twilight said, closing the book. "And i think that something was Sunset Shimmer..." Twilight added, propping her head up with her hands.
"We'll it's a nice theory darling, but Sunset Shimmer had nothing to do with it!" Rarity explained, sliding next to Twilight.
"She's right! Sunset Shimmer isn't the reason my SILENT Pet Shelter Auction was ruined by fireworks and loud noises!" Fluttershy said passive aggressively, eyeing Pinkie. "It was suppose to be a silent event, and Pinkie ruined it!"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" Pinkie exclaimed. "I got a text from you saying you didn't want a silent auction, you wanted a big party!" Pibkie said throwing her hands up.
"I never sent you a text..." Fluttershy replied confused.
"You didn't?" Pinkie asked, grabbing her phone to swiping through text messages.
"You don't think she's been the one that's been sending me those emails do you?" Rarity questioned Pinkie. "Everytime I volunteer to help decorate for school functions, Pinkie always emails me back saying she has enough volunteers already... but then later I find out she did it all herself!" Rarity continued.
"I never sent you any emails Rarity." Pinkie replied, still looking at her phone.
"Maybe she's the reason RD didn't show up for my bakesale!" Applejack said in realisation.
"You haven't called her RD in ages." Fluttershy pointed out, tilting her head.
Applejacks cheeks reddened. She turned away from them embarrassed. "Sorry, Rainbow Dash I mean..."
Twilight raised an eyebrow at Fluttershy in question who just shook her head in response. "Didn't you ever ASK rainbow dash why she never showed up." Twilight questioned.
"Well...ah kind of stopped talking to her at all after that. Ah probably should have said something..." Applejack replied, pulling her hat over her face in shame. She hated that her and Rainbow left off on bad terms and she most definitely didn't want to be reminded of it. She had just started to get over everything, and now just the mention of her name brought it all back.
"Maybe now would be a good time to start." Twilight said comfortingly, placing Applejacks hat back onto her head. Applejack gave her a small smile which Twilight returned.
"Maybe it is."
