As Applejack drove them home with the front of the truck lights the only thing lighting up the road, they sat in respectful silence. Rainbow Dash took stolen glances at AJ while the cowgirl kept her gaze fixed directly on the road, each thinking about the other. It didn't take so long to reach the farm acre as soon Applejack pulled into their barn garage and turned off the truck's systems next to Big Macs who drove himself and Apple Bloom home from the event. Rainbow didn't need directions of where to go, she knew this place like the back of her hand from all the times she had been here while they dated, each bathroom, the kitchen, all the bedrooms, she knew the layout perfectly, even down to which draw contains what cutlery. As the girls walked past the kitchen they made eye contact with Big Mac and Apple Bloom snacking on some pale red apples with hues of yellow slicing between pigments, who threw AJ two of the same apples which she easily caught with her hands, lifting her arms at the last second to catch them, perfectly coordinated.

"Are y'all okay? After what happened at school?" AJ checked in, passing Rainbow one of the unwaxed apples.

"Eeeyup." Big Mac replied, followed by a quick head nod from Apple Bloom. "It was scary at first, but you saved us and now we know there's nothing to worry about!" She gleamed optimistically as she crunched into a slice of apple that Big Mac must have cut for her. With a head nod of acknowledgment to the both of them, Applejack gently grabbed RD's wrist and guided her up to her room as she munched on the perfectly crunchy apple, Dash doing the same. When they arrived in her room, light scents of cinnamon wafting around, Applejack sat on her bed and patted the space next to her, indicating Rainbow should join her. As they sat and ate the juicy fruit, Applejack broke the now comfortable silence.

"Do you feel okay?" She asked as a conversation opener as well as having genuine concern for Dash's emotions.

"Yeah I feel okay, what happened tonight just didn't seem real, but I guess we'll have to get used to magic a bit more now that we've got this furry thing that turns us into ear and tail wearing horses when we get real friendly." Dash jokes, immediately changing the conversation tone.

AJ mentally rolls her eyes and tries to find a way to return the conversation to emotions. "Very funny Dash. But I guess tonight isn't the only time things haven't felt real." She spoke, trying to get Dash to pick up what shes putting down.

"What do you mean AJ? Has anything else weird happened that I missed?" She asked suspiciously yet also cluelessly.

"You know..."

"No I don't know AJ."

"If you don't get it there's no point in talking about it."

"AJJJJJJJ come on tell meeeee!"

"No, its okay Dash, lts just get some rest okay?" Applejack concluded, trying to end this embarrassing scene as she threw her apple core in her bin across the other side of the room as if it was a basketball hoop. Rainbow said nothing when AJ made the core in the bin first try. Dash had finished her apple and also tried to shoot a bin hoop, successfully aiming it, the core following the path of AJ's. Even though it was silent, they both knew they were thinking the same admiration, connection, and thoughtfulness of how they share the same strengths and that is what makes them a good match. Rainbow then realises.

"Do you mean...us?" She asked cautiously in case she is dead wrong and makes a massive fool of herself.

"...Yes Dash. Us." AJ replies, standing up and going to the bathroom to wash the apple juice off her hands that were beginning to get sticky. Following her as she too had sticky hands, she tried to continue the conversation without exposing her feelings too much. "I mean, we did date, so we're bound to still have chemistry." Dash states as she goes to wash her hands, lathering her palms with foaming apple soap.

Applejack dries her clean hands on a towel and continues along the lines of the current semi-awkward topic, yet a conversation shes been yearning to have. "We've been flirting Dash, that's more than just chemistry."

Dash copies AJ's actions and wipes her hands on the same towel before going back to her room and sitting herself down on the same spot on her dark green bedsheets as Applejack makes her way over to her bed and lies down, propping her head up on her hand awaiting the other's response.

"Well, what are we then?"

AJ paused hesitantly, she didn't think they'd dive right into this specificity immediately. She had to plan her responses to get Rainbow to say more so she didn't have to do all the work.

"What do you want us to be?"

Rainbow mental reaction to that question was darting thoughts of 'being a couple,' 'dating each other,' 'being my girlfriend,' washed up many times, but as heartily as she felt this way, she didn't want to reveal too much in case it puts their friendship or any possible chance of a future relationship at risk. "I want us to be true to ourselves, and the way we feel...about each other."

Firing back almost immediately to get Rainbow to answer the question she knew she is planning to ask her, "And how do you feel?" She questioned simply.

"I..." Rainbow stammered and couldn't find the right words. "I...I feel...um"

Cutting her off, AJ could see where this was headed and it would be awkward for both of them if they were to rush into anything based off one night of emotional conversation following traumatic events. It would be best if they sleep on it and can consider talking about it when they have recharged. "It's okay sugarcube, lets talk about it tomorrow okay?"

Rainbow let out a sigh, its hard to communicate how she feels, but in a way she is also grateful she didn't make her finish her sentence because who knows what path it could've gone down.

"Alright AJ."
