As they sat in silence and refuelled, Rainbow caught hues of yellow and orange in the corner of her eye. Suddenly, remembrance of nights ago flowed back into her mind. She whipped her head around and caught sight of Spitfire, 'What happened to them?' She thought. Dash couldn't believe she was so forgetful and wrapped up in AJ and...whatever, to think about her friends and where they went, what happened to them, and why they are here.
As Rainbow Dash was contemplating their choices, Applejack was considering some of her own. 'Maybe its not too late to try again with Rainbow, there's clearly still chemistry between us, Rainbow seems more forgiving lately, maybe I should apologise for making things weird.' As she began to scootch slightly closer to Rainbow and quickly thought of her word placements considering whether to speak or not, Rainbow made the decision for her.
"I'll be back AJ..." Dash informed her ignorantly, swatting a hand in her direction and standing up to approach Spitfire, completely oblivious to Applejacks sliding closer to her. Walking towards her rebellious friend who may have spent some time in jail, she caught their eyes and Spitfires face lit up. "Dash! There you are! I've been looking all over for you." She hollered as she threw an arm around Rainbow and pulling her into the group of other athletes.
"What happened Spitfire? I thought you went to jail? I'm so sorry I didn't contact you, I had a hard time and got lost while trying to run away."
"Don't worry about it Dash, we were being way too dramatic about it." Spitfire replied, waving her hand as if getting contained by the police is no big deal.
"What do you mean? I saw them take you away." Rainbow questioned, wondering why they think getting taken to the police station is so nonchalant.
"Well we're minors right, so they kept us in a cell for a bit, was barely like a prison with all the commotion of real crime committers going on outside. But then they called our parents, got us bailed out, of course wouldn't be complete without the huge lecture from mum and dad, and they just let us off with a warning." Spitfire explained, rolling her eyes at certain points of the story and brushing it off as nothing.
"Wow, well its great they let you go. Thank god they didn't put you away." Rainbow replied, thankful her friends were okay, even though she should be concerned at how calmy Spitfire recounted the story.
"Yeah, we'll just be more careful text time." Lighting chimed in, winking at Rainbow mischievously, clearly not having learnt her lesson. "Anyway Dash, you said you got lost? How'd you find your way home?"
Rainbows eyes widened in surprise as she didn't except they'd ask for her story of the same evening. She couldn't share she stayed the night at Applejacks, its not that she was embarrassed to be getting closer to AJ, she just didn't think they'd understand. Especially considering she knows their opinion on all her current friends. "Oh it was fine, I just used my brain, got my phone out, followed the online directory. Got me home safe and sound." She lied, words spewing out of her as if it'll change the topic any faster. Spitfire seemed to notice the change in tone and speed and was about to question further but then Lighting shoved in once again. "That's great, we're all great. Now what should we spray next?" She suggested, laughing through a smirk as some of the others echoed. Dash didn't want to be apart of this conversation anymore and turned around to try and find AJ where she left her, but she was gone. 'Oh hell, why did I leave her there all alone. I probably made her feel terrible.' With the guilt of her selfish actions building, she softly whacked Spitfire on to back to indicate she was going to go which was met with an acknowledging smile. 'Why would I just leave her there, god no wonder she doesn't want to date me anymore.' She told herself. As she weaved through the crowds of people she tried to keep her eyes peeled for Applejack's signature farmer hat which had been decorated with a small rose for the occasion. Unsuccessful, she was considering just going back to the athletes and pretending to enjoy herself, but then she heard a call.
"Twilight! Help!"
Rainbow rapidly turned her body to locate the familiar voice and watched as her friends, AJ included, ran towards the gym door that a terrified Spike was being pulled through by Snips and Snails. Immediately concerned, she sped walked to the door to seem less suspicious but then dashed out, tailing Rarity to the courtyard where a certain Sunset Shimmer awaited.
