Throughout the full duration of the exam period that week, the two did not talk as much as they normally did before their sabotage. Their phones laying barren of the texts they would usually send repetitively while they were procrastinating from homework or witnessed something that reminded one of the other. Their only interactions being on the groupchat, sending off quick goodlucks and best wishes as each of their friends would wake up to go to school for their slot. There was the unlikely event where AJ and Dash would exchange questions about different syllabus dot points to clarify, yet in the end neither of them fully knowing.

hey aj do u know how to answer an 8 marker about antibody production over an 11 day vaccine period?

AJ

What past paper?

Me

last years paper 2 q9

AJ

Tbh not really HAHA but I know it's something related to memory b-cells and how they remember the harmless version of the virus that was in the injection to keep producing the customised antibody. Maybe check the mark scheme? Or there's got to be some video out there that explains it.

Me

okay thanks aj

"So? How was it?" Dash interrogated Applejack as they left their second last exam on Thursday afternoon. The only exam, other than LangLit on the first day, they shared was Physical Development and Health, a 2 hour and a half exam that left them with cramped hands and headaches from the unexpected amount of human anatomy they had to discuss.

"I did the best I could, but the 20 marker stumped me. I reckon out of all the essays I could have prepared for, I did the least amount of work on that topic," AJ shrugged in response, slight disappointment hanging on her tone. "How about you?"

"Ehh...you know I'm not great at schoolwork, it was hard. At this point I'm relying on a sporting scholarship to get me to university," She openly shared, looking at the ground as she simmered in her future bad result acknowledgement.

"I'm sure you did better than you think, they scale everything up if our cohort falls below average anyway," Applejack tried to comfort as she let a hand hover near the girls arm, but deciding against making the physical contact.

"Yeah I guess," the other replied without undue enthusiasm, "I'm just glad they're almost over."

"Same, what do you have tomorrow?"

"My last is geography in the morning slot, yours is design and tech right?" Dash asked, pulling from her memory of what subject the girl hadn't covered yet.

"Yeah but it's in the afternoon so I won't run into you probably," she commented honestly.

"Not unless you're trying to go out of your way to see me," Rainbow joked, smirking in the opposite direction as she spoke yet turning around to meet the face of a surprised Applejack. Realising what she had said she desperately tried to cover it up to make it sound less fruity, she didn't want her thinking she had a crush on her or anything because that would be far from the truth. They're just best friends. "...I meant, you know, cause our friends will probably want to catch up once we're all done right?" 'Great cover up Dash,' she thought sarcastically to herself.
