Sunset was easily getting tired of watching Twilight to try settle the air between her and Flash, him clearly holding strong to his competitive attitude towards the impending band fight, so instead of trying to entertain Twi's delusion, she took a step away to observe the scene. She noted Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy in the corner talking softly while looking around at the events taking place in the open space, as well as two of her dancing friends who had made their way into a dance circle, one being spun around the other seemingly in a platonic way. Sunset smiled as she watched to the two dance and have fun, knowing there was probably some happy romance brewing, recalling Rarity's story from the other day. If only she could have something like that with Twilight.
As she got lost in her bisexual daze, sensing a negative energy enter the room, her vision focused and was able to identify those who they had prepared to see. The Dazzlings. They entered from a room off to the right of where everyone else was, suggesting they had been somewhere out of their eyesight when the Rainbooms arrived. They caught Sunsets eye as they scanned the room as if trying to pick an unwilling suspect to approach and initiate contact with, coincidentally, Sunset also posing as the weakest link to the Rainbooms as she was not a performer like the rest of them. As the three girls made their way to her couch direction, Adagio leading the walk, she tapped Twilight with the back of her hand, urgently turning the girls attention away from the boy and to the threat. She flickered her eyes at Sunset initially in questioning of why she wacked her, but as she dragged her eyes to meet the turquoise of the girls, she saw what she was being warned about. The two girls were given seconds to prepare themselves before the Dazzlings reached their destinations and spoke up.
"Hello girls, enjoying the party?" Adagio cooed somewhat seductively as if trying to pull them under her magnetic spell everyone was weak to.
"Sure..." Sunset mumbled, trying not to indulge in too much conversation.
"What are you up to? Spitfire told us it was your idea to plan the party!" Twilight shot at them, sticking a finger at the leader accusingly yet not so obviously to draw attention from the other partyers.
Adagio batted her eyes innocently, "Us? Up to something? Oh, we would never!" She replied, smoothening out the last word unconvincingly. "We just wanted everyone to have some fun before the rough day we have tomorrow. Everyone seems so argumentative for some reason, we just thought this would help them blow off some steam." She continued, lying through her teeth. Twilight and Sunset both could tell she had a plan, and most ironically that they were the ones causing all this mayhem to begin with.
"Whatever you are up to, you won't succeed," Sunset stated, eyes narrowing and crossing her arms over her chest to stand her ground.
Adagio placed a hand on her chest as if offended mockingly, "Why? Because you didn't?" She easily countered, letting out a low snicker before motioning for the other girls to follow her as she walked away. "This party is only getting started." She spoke before migrating to a different group of people to sweet talk.
Twilight turned to Sunset, her attention now focused on the issue on their hands. "Whatever they've got up their sleeves, it can't be good." Sunset nodded her head concerningly. "And with you guys not having any magic, you won't be able to stop them."
"Gee thanks for the reminder," Twilight replied with a slight annoyance in her tone, clearly reminded of the stress she self-inflicted from being unable to create a counter spell yet. Raising a hand and letting it sit on Twi's back comfortingly, she softed her facials apologetically and reassured her that it would be alright. "I'm sure you'll get it Twilight, you're the princess in your world for a reason."
"Thanks Sunset." She responded with some hesitation in her tone yet looking up at her with a warm smile that made Sunset's heart ache with sweet unrequited emotion.
On the other side of the room where the Dazzling had moved to, they were ready to set their ploy into action.
"Now that we know the Rainboom's weakness, we can use it to create tension within their group. If we're able to break them apart, they won't be able to stop us from taking this school's negative energy for ourselves."
"How do you suggest we use this information Adagio? Are we sure it's even going to work?" Aria asked, as always consistently questioning Adagio's leadership.
"And where did you even find this out? Like-" Sonata began to say before Adagio cut in.
"Just listen you idiots, I know what I'm doing. Just follow my lead." She demanded before turning to face the room, announcing a question in a siren-esque audio.
"Who wants to play a game of spin the bottle?"
Applejack and Rarity were both lightweights. The drink with high alcohol percentage possessed their rational thoughts and just let them go with the movement of the small crowd around the speaker. At one point they were pushed into the centre of a dance circle that formed and AJ spun Rarity around her, both dopey laughing, eyes opening and shutting as if in slow motion. Applejack had never been drunk before, so this experience was relatively new and hence, uncontrollable. Rarity had taken Applejack hat and placed it on her head, prancing around the other who was trying to snatch it back jokingly. Her drunken balance combined with the heeled boots she was wearing tripped her and lost equilibrium, falling forward slightly. Her normal reflexes would be stronger, but as her connection to her nerves seemed disrupted, she was unable to move a leg to catch her fall fast enough, knowing she was going to hit the ground. Just before she met a parallel to the floor, an arm swooped under her waist and was able to snatch her up in time before she could inflict any damage. Her blurred vision glanced up to her aid, hoping it was who she thought it was, and to her liking her blue eyes met those of green. The girl began to pull her up and set her back onto her feet.
"Woah there cowgirl." Applejack said to her, grabbing the hat back and placing it utop her own head. Rarity felt a blush settle across her face at the save of the girl she liked. With muddled thoughts she pushed out a flirt, hoping for an equal response, "You know if you let me wear your hat, people would know I'm yours." She said, leaning her weight on the stronger girl her followed by a sluggish wink. AJ looked at Rarity's contact to her side and smiled, yet her thoughts were infused with the truth serum that is alcohol, she was oblivious to the flirting and replied, "Only Rainbow's allowed to steal it." The slurry words flew out of her mouth and hit Rarity like a brick. Her flirt being shot down, she surely felt she misheard the girl, hopeful that her vision wasn't the only bewildered sense. Before she could reply to ask for clarity on what the girl said, she heard a voice call out, "Who wants to play a game of spin the bottle?" With a heightened desperation, seeing it as an opportunity to kiss Applejack again if she got lucky, she paid no attention to who called the game and followed a group made up of about half the room who were interested, dragging the orange disorientated girl with her.
Rainbow felt as if a guitar string of her heart snapped as she watched Rarity fall and Applejack willingly bend down to catch her. With obvious sober rising jealousy, she watched the interaction from afar and tried to justify her actions. 'Of course she wouldn't let her fall, they're friends, the waist placement was the most effective way to carry her body weight...' Thoughts echoing louder than the music that felt like the same songs were being repeated over and over. She observed AJ snatch her hat from Rarity's head which was followed by drunk laughter from the flirt, Dash rolling her eyes at how obvious she was being, and then an epiphany. 'Is Applejack...drunk??' She thought, shocked at the idea and the contradiction against the girls own words. The more she visually stalked them, the greater the fire grew inside her, every contact with AJ raising exasperation, now noting their wobbly movements and disconnection from thoughts. Then suddenly, Rarity's expression changed to one of confusion with Applejack becoming slightly more distant. 'What just happened, did I miss something they said?' She thought.
She then heard someone around the corner call out, "Who wants to play a game of spin the bottle?" Drawing an instant reaction from the purple-haired girl, dragging the disorientated cowgirl with her. Instant panic rose in Rainbow.
'Is AJ going to kiss someone?'
