CHAPTER TWO
"A Taste For The Dark Side"
In a small clearing of the woods, Lily had set up a small camp site. She wasn't overly fond of sleeping in the woods, but it was better than the alternative. She had no interest in living in the town itself like her brother had been appearing to do. Everything there was so bizarre to her, including her own brother. She wanted nothing more than to have her family back, but she was concerned too much time had passed for that to happen.
For whatever reason her brother had a life here...or so Lily thought. She wasn't totally sure what Killian was doing in Storybrooke; and she wasn't about to question it. She wasn't even sure if she cared. If she had to be totally honest, she didn't know how to feel about anything.

Killian sat alone on the Jolly Roger. He came to Storybrooke for revenge, not to reunite with his long lost sister. He truly never intended on seeing her again. The twins had once made a promise to their mother to always stick by each other, and never leave the other; but he had broken that promise.
At the time, he thought he was doing the right thing. Liam had convinced him that Lily would be okay; and Killian had spent all this time believing that was true. He still did believe it right up until Lily stopped herself from talking. He tried to press her for more information, but she refused to tell him.
He knew something bad must've happened to her, and it broke his heart to think that he was responsible for it. He never should've left her behind. He wanted to go back for her, but he didn't; and he hated himself every day for it.

Later that evening, the people of Storybrooke were gathered in Granny's Diner to celebrate Emma Swan and her mother, Mary Margaret Blanchard's, return to the town after being pulled through a portal to the Enchanted Forest.
David Nolan stood up in front of the small crowd gathered in the diner, with his arm wrapped around Mary Margaret and began to talk, "I just wanted to thank you all for joining us here tonight. Mary Margaret and I have always said that no matter what, we will always find each other. And tonight, I'd like you all to join me in raising your glasses and being thankful to this being the last time we have to look for a while. To Mary Margaret and Emma!"
Everyone cheered and clinked their glasses; and as this was happening, the bell above the door rang quietly as Regina Mills entered the diner holding a casserole dish. "Sorry I'm late." She said sheepishly.
One of the seven dwarves, Grumpy, grabbed a knife as he glared at Regina. "What is she doing here?" He sneered.
"I invited her." Emma admitted, causing both of her parents to look at her in shock. Mary Margaret grabbed Emma's arm and took her away to the side with David. "Why would you invite her, Emma?" She asked.
"We are celebrating today because of Regina." Emma said. "In case you forgot, she helped us get home yesterday. I know she's done some bad things in the past, but right now, she deserves our thanks."
"Emma," Mary Margaret began, "she tried to kill us yesterday."
"No, she didn't." Emma said. "She's trying to change for Henry. He believes in her. And right now, that's good enough for me. If I wasn't given a second chance, I never would've changed. Regina is allowed to have a second chance to prove herself."
David sighed, "I still don't know if it's a good idea to trust her."
"You don't have to trust her." Emma said. "Just be civil with her for Henry's sake."

As the night progressed, everyone had split up into their own little groups and were chatting away; meanwhile, Regina sat in a booth alone. Eventually, she decided to stand up and grab her coat, heading for the exit. She stopped and turned around when she heard a hurried set of footsteps behind her. It was Henry Mills, her adoptive son.
"I'm glad you came here tonight." He said, looking up at her. Things between the mother and son have been pretty rough lately, so it meant the world to Regina that he was talking to her. As did the few minutes they spent together earlier during the celebrations.
"I'm glad I did too." She smiled softly at him.
"I still love you, Mom." He said. "I'm just not ready to come home yet."
"I get that. Regina said. She tried to be brave and happy in front of him, even though inside, her heart was breaking. "I'll talk to you soon, okay?"
Henry nodded his head and walked off to join his grandparents. Regina watched him walk away before she turned and left Diner. Seeing this, Emma followed her outside. "Regina." She called out to the brunette in front of her, who turned around to face the blonde.
"We still have cake." Emma said. "Aren't you going to stay for a slice?"
Regina shook her head, "I'm fine, thank you." She paused briefly. "And thank you for inviting me tonight."
"It's what Henry wanted." Emma admitted with a slight shrug to her shoulders. "I'm glad you guys got to spend some time together."
"Me too." Regina said. "I'd like to see him more."
"If that's what Henry wants too, I'll think about it." Emma said. "But if it's not, I'm not going to force him into anything he doesn't want to do."
Regina sighed and hung her head slightly. She understood where Emma was coming from, she was just trying to protect Henry but at the same time, she just wanted her son back. She just wanted things to go back to how they used to be, before Emma came to town.
"Archie did say you were trying to change and, well, you are. So, maybe Henry will want to see more of you sooner than you think." Emma said.
The mayor frowned slightly and looked back up at the blonde. "Doctor Hopper said I was trying?" She asked.
"He said you've been going to see him, and that you've been trying to not use magic." Emma said. "I was a little hesitant about inviting you tonight, but he thought it was a good idea."
Regina nodded her head. "I have to go." She said before she turned around and walked away, while Emma went back inside the diner.
Up on the rooftop of a nearby building, stood Killian and Regina's mother, Cora. The two were spying on Regina through Killian's telescope. "Well, is she broken?" The pirate asked.
"Not yet." Cora answered. "But she will be."
"You're just striving for mother of the year, aren't you?" Killian sarcastically asked.
"Just like you want to strive for brother of the year." Cora said.
Killian looked at her, trying his best to hide any emotion, but it was a little obvious that was confused and shocked. In all the time he had spent with Cora, he had never once mentioned the fact he had any siblings. So...how did she know?
Cora turned her head to look at him, "she looks like you, you know?"
"How do you know?" Killian asked.
Cora pointed further down the street and when Killian raised his telescope to see what she was pointing at, he saw Lily. She was walking down the street, sticking to the more shadowy side of the sidewalk and completely oblivious to the fact she was being watched.
"I've heard stories about her. The Dark Witch." Cora said with a slight chuckle. "If you two could get over your awkwardness, we could use her power to our advantage. I've heard she has quite the taste for the dark side. Be a dear, Captain, and make up with your sister. She won't help us if she still holds a grudge against you."
