CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT
"There will be blood"

"Emma, this is insane! You can't be serious about this!" Mary Margaret said as she looked at her daughter in disbelief. She had just learned of Emma's plans to help Lily take Athena down, and of course, she and David were freaking out about it. They both wanted to keep themselves and their family out of the whole situation. The excuse was always the same: we have a baby to think about. Emma understood where her parents were coming from, but it annoyed her so much to the point where she was sick of hearing about her own brother.

Her parents were supposed to be the heroes, the good guys. People who do whatever it takes to stop the bad guy. But instead, they were cowering away in their apartment that Emma was beginning to think she needed to move out of. "There's nothing either of you can say that will stop me. She needs all the help she can get." Emma said.

"She's a Dark One, Emma. She's more than capable of looking after herself." David said.

"Do you guys hear yourselves? Just a few weeks ago, you were trying to befriend her and now that she doesn't fit into your perfect picture frame, you wanna dump her? She just lost her son. She was forced to watch him die. You can't sit there and tell me that you wouldn't act like she is if that happened to me." Emma said.

"We wouldn't because we're not-" Mary Margaret cut her sentence short, as though she didn't want to anger her daughter even more.

"Not what? Not evil?" Emma asked.

"Things are complicated here, Emma. Both Athena and Lilith are capable of wielding extremely powerful magic, if we get involved, we could get hurt." Mary Margaret said. "You need to-"

"No! I don't!" Emma scoffed. "You call yourselves heroes but all you're doing is sitting around while a grieving mother is walking around town trying to avenge her son's death. You know, if Henry had died, that would be me and Regina out there. We'd be doing exactly what Lily is doing right now. Would you hide away from that?"

Neither of her parents answered and Emma shook her head. "Heroes." She scoffed. "Some heroes you guys are." She turned around and left the apartment, slamming the door shut behind her.

Everyone else had gathered at the Mills household to discuss what was going to be the next best move to dealing with both the Dark One, and the woman she was trying to kill. There had been multiple arguments over it. The majority of people wanted to help, but others wanted to avoid the situation at all costs.
