CHAPTER NINETEEN
"The Trigger"

Evander and Lorelai walked down the street in search for their mother. She was on the ship or hanging around the docks where they usually found her. "This is concerning, Evander. Mother wouldn't just vanish like this." Lorelai said, the worried tone was evident in her voice.

"I'm sure we'll find her." Evander said in an attempt to comfort his sister; even though he wasn't sure if he believed his own words.

Even before things went down hill and they separated, their mother wasn't one for suddenly disappearing on them. She would always let them know if she was going anywhere; and the fact she was nowhere to be seen was a great concern.

In a different part of town, outside the Rabbit Hole bar, Mr Gold was holding Doctor Whale under his foot; while Belle watched on. Whale was begging Gold to let him go but it fell of deaf ears. Gold had caught Whale staring at Lacey and he didn't like it. He demanded Whale to kiss his boot, but the doctor wasn't co-operating like he wanted.

After seeing the scene from a distance, Neal rushed over and pulled Gold away from Whale; who quickly scrambled to his feet and left. "What the hell are you doing?" Neal exclaimed as he left go of his father.

"Stand aside. This does not concern you." Gold said.

Neal scoffed, "I'm surprised you didn't turn him into a snail."

"A snail? What are you talking about?" Belle questioned.

"Lacey, why don't you go and wait for me in the shop?" Gold asked as he held up the shop keys.

"Okay." She said quietly before taking the keys and walking away.

"You are unreal, you know that?" Neal scoffed once again. "You spend years looking for me. I come to town. You disappear. You know, you haven't changed one bit! For a second, I thought you might have. I started to think you were worth my time, but you proved me wrong."

"And yet, you're still here." Gold said.

"For Henry." Neal replied. "I'm only here for him. As far as I'm concerned, you can stay the hell away from both of us." And with that, Neal turned around and walked away. Leaving his father standing there alone.
