CHAPTER FORTY-TWO
"Fear leads to anxiety"

"Regina, what do we do?!" Lily asked, looking up her wife with tears freely falling down her cheeks.

"The hospital! We gotta get him to the hospital!" Regina said. She flicked her wrist and magically changed out of her robe into a red dress. She rushed off to grab her car keys, leaving Lily alone with Evander. "Please be okay." Lily whispered as she rested her forehead against Evander. "I can't lose you."

Once Regina returned, she and Lily managed to get Evander into the backseat of Regina's car. "I-I need to tell the girls. But I don't know how. I don't know where they are." Lily said as Regina sped away.

"I have Fallon's number. I'll call her once we get Evander to the hospital. He's your priority right now, okay? He's gonna be fine." Regina said.

Lily was doing her best to hold it together, despite the tears falling down her cheeks. Her mind had gone straight to worst case scenario, even though Evander was still alive. The drive to the hospital wasn't long, but felt like it took years. And once Evander had been taken back for emergency surgery, Lily was left to pace around in the waiting room.

"Fallon eventually answered her phone." Regina said as she walked over to Lily. "She's already with Lorelai, but she's gonna find Adrienne, Alice and Ophelia. They shouldn't be long."

"Who stabbed him? He's so innocent. Not as innocent as Lorelai, but compared to the rest of our family, he's a saint. Who would want to hurt my boy?" Lily asked as she stopped pacing.

"I don't know." Regina said quietly, before she stepped forward and hugged Lily. "We'll work that out together, okay? Whoever hurt him won't get away with it."

At the farmhouse, Gold sat quietly in his cell and spun gold. Zelena stood outside the cell watching him with an wicked smirk on her face.

"There. That'll do. You said it yourself: Spinning clears your mind." She said before using her magic to transform the spun gold threads into a brain made of solid gold. She then opened a casket and carefully placed the brain inside, alongside Charming's sword hilt and Regina's heart.

"Now, there's just one more ingredient to collect." She smiled.

Lily sighed in frustration as she finally sat down next to Regina. "Do these surgeries usually take this long?" She asked.

"It's only been ten minutes, Lily. They don't use magic. They have to use aesthetic, needles, stiches, sometimes staples and cameras. There's a lot that goes into it and it can get complicated." Regina sighed.
