CHAPTER FOURTEEN
"The candle of death"
Cora sat at Regina's desk at the mayoral office with the dagger placed out in front of her on the desk. Regina sat in a chair on the other side of the desk. Lily chose to sit on the small couch. She wanted to keep a distance between herself and Cora, even if that distance was small.
"You never told me about your history with Snow's mother." Regina said, looking at her mother.
"I spared you that burden, like any good parent would do." Cora said.
Lily looked at her in disbelief. Good parent. Lily knew she was hardly a saint but she was a better parent than Cora; and she knew that.
"You didn't think I deserved to know exactly what it took for me to become Queen?" Regina asked.
"Now you know. You made sure I met Snow, you made the horse spook and knew I would save her. Then you killed her mother and made me marry the king." Regina said.
"And what does that knowledge change for you?" Cora asked.
"That you won, Mother. I am the Queen." Regina said. "But if that's what you wanted, why take the Dark One's dagger now? If we use it to have him kill everyone, Henry will know it was us."
"Have patience, my love." Cora smiled. "By the time Rumpelstiltskin returns, Emma Swan and the rest of them will be just an unpleasant memory. And Henry? He will be yours."
"Where's my daughter, Cora?" Lily asked, finally chiming in on the conversation.
"I have no idea what you're talking about-"
"Do not lie to me!" Lily said, cutting Cora off, as she stood up. "I have a letter from her that mentions you; and that she's being held underground somewhere. Regina here has told me herself that you know where she is." She walked over to the desk and placed her hands on it, leaning forward slightly. "Now, I'm going to ask you one more time; where is my daughter?"
"You'll get your daughter back, when we get what we want." Cora said.
"Or I could just rip your heart out and get you to tell me." Lily said, looking Cora dead in the eyes. As she did so, her eyes began to glow a dark shade of purple which Cora frowned at.
Before anything else could be said, the phone box sitting on Regina's desk crackled to life and a phone conversation between David and Mary Margaret could be heard.
David: Hey. I just talked to Emma. It's a really bad wound. She says it's poison and they can only cure it back here in Storybrooke. They're taking a ship home.
Cora stood up as David started speaking.
Mary Margaret: Well, let them know that they have the dagger, okay? Who knows what that wicked woman would do?
