CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT
"Kindred Spirit"

STORYBROOKE
PRESENT DAY

Evander had his arms folded as he stood next to his uncle, watching him throw darts at the board. He had tried to convince Astrid to join them, but she declined and decided to stay hidden away in Gold's cabin. Evander still wasn't sold on liking Gold just yet, but he was glad he was allowing Astrid to use the cabin. "You're better at this than I thought." Evander commented as Killian threw his last dart.

"What can I say, dear nephew. Natural talent." Killian chuckled as he walked towards the board to collect the darts. As he returned with the darts in his hand, he noticed Evander appeared to be more distracted than usual. "Everything alright, Evander?" He asked.

"Fine." Evander replied, taking the darts from Killian's hand. He threw the first two darts at the board, and caught his uncle watching him in the corner of his eye. He sighed. "Dude, could you blink once in a while? It's creepy when you stare." He said.

"Something's bothering you. What is it?" Killian asked.

Evander looked down at the dart in his and twirled it around, before he quietly sighed and looked up at his uncle. "I'm worried about Astrid." He admitted.

"The blonde lass you share a heart with?" Killian questioned.

"That's the one." Evander replied. "She's become really quiet lately. I think she misses her sister. I want to help her reunite with her sister, but I have no idea where I'd even begin. Regina won't let me go down into the cave to see if she's still down there."

Killian raised a curious brow. "The cave?"

"Yeah, her sister is Maleficent. You know, the big, scary dragon witch." Evander said.

"She's not a dragon too, is she?"

"Not that I know of."

Both men turned their heads to look over their shoulders as they heard the diner's bell ring. Emma entered, a small smile appearing on her face as she laid her eyes on Killian. "The Snow Queen turn up? Did we miss the search party?" Killian asked.

"Oh, n-nothing to miss. There's no sign of that ice witch yet." Emma replied. Her tone had a hint of nervousness about it, and it seemed like Evander was the only one that noticed. The archer raised his eyebrow ever so slightly, as she closely watched his best friend's face to see if it would give him any further information; but she didn't.
