CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE "The Unbreakable Vow of Childhood"
A sheet of instructions was laid out on the floor of the Blanchard's loft as Emma and David attempted to assemble a crib. They had been trying for a long time but didn't seem to be getting very far.
"See, the enemy battle plans that were used are easier to decode than this." David commented, looking down at the instructions.
"Let me see." Emma said, pulling the instructions closer to her. "Alright, it says: take screws E, with washer D, through bar C, using wrench F...which is not provided." She sighed.
"Why don't we just call Marco? He's really good at this sort of thing." Mary Margaret suggested, after watching her husband and daughter struggle.
The father and daughter looked up at her, rather offended that she would even suggest that. "We don't need Marco's help. We're fine." David said.
"Should we even be doing this? Ever since the showdown between Regina and the Wicked Witch, we haven't seen Zelena or Gold or Athena at all. Shouldn't we be focussing on her next move?" Mary Margaret questioned.
"We are. We just can't stop living." Emma said.
"Yeah, this crib is a statement. We're not gonna lose another baby." David said as the front door swung open. "And thanks to me, you won't. I'm finished." Regina announced as she walked in.
"So, did it work? Were you able to put up a new protection spell?" David asked.
Regina nodded her head. "One that can't be undone by blood magic. Which means, Zelena won't be able to put her wicked hands on that baby." She said.
"Any idea why she would want it?" Mary Margaret asked.
"The number of spells involving baby parts would surprise you. That greeny is clearly one twisted witch." Regina said. "But as long as we're in here, we're safe."
"That's useless. I think we need to stop playing defence and start taking the fight to her." Emma said.
"Did you not see how I barely outwitted her yesterday? And that was with Lily's help. Zelena has magic! Powerful magic." Regina said.
"I have magic too. You've seen me use it. I just can't always control it." Emma said. "But if we teamed up, if you taught me--"
