CHAPTER NINE
"Mother Dearest"

Sirens could be heard and flashing lights could be seen approaching the chaotic scene at the town line. Gold had magically healed a confused Belle's wounds, but it only caused her to freak out more. She was scared of what Gold was. She had managed to pull herself away from the crocodile and was now sitting a few feet away from him.

Killian was slowly beginning to come around from being knocked unconscious; and Lily was still staring at her son in complete shock. The two hadn't seen each other in twelve years. She didn't know where he came from or how he even found himself at Storybrooke's town line.

The sheriff's squad car appeared; and Emma got out of it along with her parents, Mary Margaret and David. Her parents rushed over to Belle and Gold, while she stayed behind the radio for assistance.

"I'm at the town line. Two people down, maybe three." Emma spoke into the radio. "There's a car and it's pretty banged up with Pennsylvania plates."

After putting the radio down, Emma walked over to Killian and leaned down. She reached down and pushed on the pirate's ribs; and he yelled out in pain as a response. "Your ribs are broken." The blonde said.

"Oh, that must be why it hurts when I laugh." Killian chuckled, despite the pain. "Did you see his face? His one true love, gone in an instant! Just like Milah, crocodile! When you took her from me!"

"But you took her first." Gold said through gritted teeth before he lunged at the pirate, with his cane prepared to cause damage. But just before he could do anything, he was frozen to the spot.

Everyone looked at Lily who held her hand up while looking at Gold. "Let me go." Gold demanded.

"If anyone will have the satisfaction of killing my brother, it will be me." Lily said, looking the dark one directly in the eye. "She might not remember you, but believe me when I say this, murder is not a good first impression."

As the ambulance appeared, Lily let go of the magical hold she had on Gold. The paramedics started walking towards Killian but Emma quickly redirected them to the driver in the car.

"Emma, Hook is clearly injured." Mary Margaret said. "He needs help."

"He can wait." Emma replied. "There's somebody in that car."

"What?" Mary Margaret stood up and walked over to the car. "Oh...wow."

"Do you know this guy?" Emma asked.

"I've never seen him before." Her mother replied.

"He's my son." Lily said causing the mother and daughter to look at her. Lily continued, "his name is Evander."

"You have a son?" Emma questioned.

"Yes." Lily said, looking at her. "Are you going to help him?"

"The paramedics will check him over, but I'm sure he'll be fine." Emma replied.

"Where did he come from?" Questioned Mary Margaret.

"I don't know." Lily answered as she looked back at the car.

At the hospital, Lily sat at her brother's bedside and looked at him disapprovingly. She knew he could be reckless but trying to kill the Dark One was a different kind of reckless. "I think you're incredibly foolish for doing what you did." She spoke quietly as she continued to judge her twin brother.

Before Killian could answer, Sheriff Swan walked into the room to interrogate the handcuffed pirate. "Where's Cora?" She asked.

The pirate tried to move his arm, but it only caused him to wince in pain. "Damn, this hurts." He spoke through gritted teeth.

"I told you - you cracked a few ribs." Emma said. A slight hint of satisfaction in her tone at seeing the pirate in pain. "Where's Cora?"

"I have no idea where Cora is, alright? She has her own agenda." Killian replied. "I'm more interested in my hook. May I have it back? Or is there another attachment you'd prefer?"

"Okay," Lily began as she stood up, "I have been disgusted by you enough for one day. I'm leaving now."

She began to leave the room but before she completely left, she turned to look at Emma. "Oh, and Sheriff, feel free to press on those broken ribs." She said. "Over my years, I've found pain is a good way to get information from someone."

"You are the worst." Killian said.

"Yes I am." Lily gave her brother a smile before she left the room.

She slowly walked down the white hallway filled with a few chairs and hospital clutter. All of which was still foreign to her. This was her first time in such a building, so didn't understand much of anything. She knew people came here when they were hurt to get better; and that was about it.

Room Fifty Three.

That was the room where Evander, her son, had been placed in. She was told that he had woken up while she was still sitting with her brother; and she had spent almost every minute since trying to work out what to say to him. What do you say to your son when you haven't seen him in twelve years?

None the less, Lily took a deep breath and walked into room fifty three; where she found her son awake and sitting up in his hospital bed. She was at a loss for words when she saw him. Eventually, she found the words to ask, "Why are you here?"

"I came looking for you." Evander said, looking at his mother for the first time in over a decade. No matter how much he wanted to blame her for the family being broken up, Evander and both of his sisters had their parts to play in it.

"Why?" Lily asked.

"After twelve years of not seeing each other, not having any contact, I thought the first thing one of us would've said was hello." Evander said.

"Evander..."

Evander jumped in and cut her off, "You said our family would one day be reunited. That's what you told us the last time we all saw each other. I know you've done a lot of bad things, Mother dearest, but breaking promises to your children was something you never did."

All Lily could do was look at her son. She didn't know what to say to him, or what she was supposed to do about him being back in her life. She was so happy to see him, but the look on her face said she was worried. She could tell Evander had an ulterior motive for finding her and coming to Storybrooke. She just didn't know what it was.
