CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
"Safe and Sound"

Astrid opened the cabin's front door and stepped outside to see a large, ominous cloud looming over Storybrooke. Her eyebrows tilted downwards in a worried frown as she continued to watch it. She hadn't heard from Evander in hours and she was beginning to get worried about him. She was concerned that the Snow Queen had done something to him. She had no way of contacting him, unless she decided to adventure into town, but she wasn't sure if she felt brave enough to do that alone just yet.

She heard footsteps running towards her, and she turned to see Evander. "There you are." She said. "What's going on?"

"The Snow Queen has cast the curse of Shattered Sight. When it hits, the entire town will turn on each other." Evander replied. "I have to go back into town to help, but I think it's best that you continue to stay here."

"I may not have powers anymore, but I am more than capable of helping, Evander. I'm coming with you." Astrid said.

"No." Evander said sternly.

"No?" Astrid questioned.

"I have no idea how bad this curse is going to be, or how long it's going to last, or how I'm even going to be when..." Evander sighed. "If you stay here, you're less likely to be hurt and you getting hurt is the last thing I want."

"But I want to help." Astrid said.

"I know you do but-"

"You don't want me to get hurt."

Evander nodded his head. "Yeah."

"Fine. I'll stay put where you believe I'll be safe." Astrid said.

"It's safer than being in town." Evander said. He felt his phone buzz and saw a text from Emma. "Damn, I gotta go." He muttered. "I will be back for you once this is all over. I promise."

"I've heard promises like that a hundred times before." Astrid replied.

"Yeah, but they weren't made by me. You know I'm as good as my word." Evander said. He kissed her cheek before he took off running.

Evander had continued running through the woods and town until he found the others standing in front of the ice wall. He listened as Emma explained her plan to get everyone out of town, so they wouldn't be effected by the curse. "Isn't this stuff like...enchanted? It might not want us touching it." Evander said.

David stepped forward and attempted to climb the wall, but the wall defended itself and pushed David back. Emma rushed over to help him up. "You okay?" She asked, and David nodded his head in response.
