CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE
"The Only Exception"

STORYBROOKE
PRESENT DAY

Astrid sat alone in Gold's cabin, just as she had done pretty much every day since she arrived in town. She raised her hand, pointing it at the fireplace, hoping for something to happen but nothing did. She sighed and balled her hand up into a lose fist. Before she died, she had mastered control of all her powers and abilities, and now, it appeared to be that she had no powers and what little remained of her abilities would spark in and out at random. She had no control of them and that scared her.

She was terrified that if her abilities were to all return at once, she would lose complete control. She had done once before as a child, but luckily she didn't remember much about it. She remembered people being scared of her and her sister crying, but not much else.

After staring at the dark fireplace for a while longer, Astrid eventually blinked and turned around, surprised to see Evander standing by the front door. "When did you get here?" She asked.

Evander shrugged. "I just came to check on you."

"I'm fine." Astrid stated.

"We will find her, you know?" Evander said.

"You talking about this evil Snow Queen?" Astrid scoffed. "I know you will. The optimism of the people in this town is almost sickening."

"Oh, I agree with you there...a little bit." Evander said. "But she isn't the person I'm talking about. I'm talking about Maleficent. Once this Snow Queen has been dealt with and I've gotten into my step-mother's extremely good books, we'll begin searching for her."

"Why would you need to be in Regina's good books to search for her friend?"

"It'll just make the whole process easier. Trust me."

Anytime Lorelai would visit any kind of burial site, she would always hear whispers of the deceased; and Storybrooke's cemetery was no exception. She had managed to block them out and walked through the cemetery until she came across Regina's vault. She found the gate to be unlocked which only meant Adrienne was still inside.

She descended down the stairs, finding her sister in the same spot she had been in since Marian was frozen. "How goes your quest to defrost Robin Hood's wife?" Lorelai asked.

"It doesn't." Adrienne admitted with a sigh. "I have looked through everything Regina has down here, I've even looked through my own things, even our mother's and there's nothing. The only thing I'm certain of is this magic isn't from our realm."
