CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
"Missing Puzzle Pieces"
ENCHANTED FOREST
ONE YEAR AGOIt had only been a few days, enough time for somebody to begin to settle into their new surroundings, but that wasn't the case for Lily. She was getting more agitated by the day; and she every time she tried to leave, Athena would catch her and force her to stay via magic.
She was pacing around her bed chambers. Her black hair pulled back into a messy braid and she wore something more comfortable than her usual clothes. Alice had given her some of her clothes to wear for the time being; and while she didn't do a great job at showing it, Lily was grateful.
"Oh, good. You're dressing like that now." Athena said was she entered the room, disappointment lacing her tone of voice.
"What do you want?" Lily asked.
"Such attitude." Athena commented.
Lily rolled her eyes and began to walk past Athena to leave the room, but Athena grabbed her arm. Lily spun around, her eyes glowing purple, and was greeted by Athena's eyes glowing blue.
"Mother!" Ophelia scolded as she walked into the room, and got in-between the two women. Their eyes returned to normal and Lily left the room without saying another word.
"You cannot keep treating her like this. Do you want her to turn on you?" Ophelia asked.
"I'd be able to take care of her if she did." Athena said. "And it was not your place to get involved like that."
"When you are on the verge of starting a fight with my granddaughter, it is very much my place to get involved like that. I don't know what your intentions are for her but I am not going to let you hurt her in any way. From now on, you are to leave her alone." Ophelia said before she left her mother standing there alone.

Lily sat on the roof of the stables, looking out at the land surrounding the castle walls. She wanted to leave then and there and begin her search for her children, but she didn't want to leave her mother behind. Alice had agreed to leave with Lily, but she wasn't ready to go just yet. She had to wait for the right moment to leave. She didn't have the magical abilities Lily did to escape Athena's grasp so easily.
"You don't make things easy, you know?" Alice said as she sat next to Lily on the roof. "It was harder than I thought it was going to be to climb up here."
