Phoenix POV:

'No'. I heard someone grit out from the far end of the table and at first I ignored it until the same voice kept yelling no, then followed by...

'Why are you going to the Alpha Academy'? The voice gritted out, this time I raised my head from my dinner plate and watched as my mate was being held by uncle Jackson most likely trying to calm him down.

'I asked you a question'. 'Why are you going to the Alpha Academy'? 'You're already an Alpha'. Nezm gritted out angrily while he asked me demandedly. I shook my head not understanding why he is so pissed.

I watched as my father's face quickly changed from shock to understanding then pissed. Instantly my dad was holding my father in hopes to calming him down.

'Excuse me'. I said quickly getting up from my seat, forgetting about my barely eaten dinner and walked back to my room locking my door behind me.

I sat on my bed trying to understand why Nezm is so upset. For the last almost year, he had been with almost every supernatural creature within a fifty mile radius.

'Stupid mate'. Cypress my wolf gritted out. I nodded my head agreeing with him.

'Now that we are leaving, he wants to act like our absence is going to affect him'. I said out loud.

Loud thunderous knocking on my door stopped me from gritting out more of my anger because of my selfish mate. I wanted to ignore the knock on my door by another knock followed by both my father and dad's scents I knew I wouldn't be able to ignore it for long.

Knowing my father he would knock until he broke my door. Reluctantly I got off my bed, unlocked my door and walked back towards my bed. I sat at the head of my bed against the head board as I watch my very angry father, storm into my room with my dad right behind him trying to calm my father down.

I just sat on my bed and waited for the questions I knew my father was going to throw at me.

'Laurent, calm the f**k down'. My dad said staring daggers at my father. I heard both of them heaving heavily and watched as my father's fists clenched and unclenched over and over again before he stared at me. I gulped nervously.

'Why didn't you tell me'? My father asked me. I shrugged my shoulders not answering him.

'Laurent, calm down'. My dad said through gritted teeth.

'Why didn't you tell me, Nezm was your your mate'? My father asked a little calmer.

"I didn't want you to act like this". I told him. "Besides dad and uncle Jackson already knows who my mate is". "I told them how I felt about him since we were pup's and how my feelings grew stronger towards him". "I even asked mom if she knew if Nezm and I were mate's and she said I was to young to know for sure". I sighed and stared at my father's shoulders slouching. I knew if I told him my uncle Jackson and Egon's son Nezm was my mate he would have acted just as he is now.

"I'm sorry I kept this from you, I didn't do it to upset you". "I just didn't know how I was going to tell you one of your closest friends pup, may or may not be your pup's mate". "I love you father, but some times you take protecting your family to far". "I didn't want to cause any issues between us and uncle Jackson and Egon's family". I explained sadly. I love my uncles and their pup's, and I know both my parents do too. I didn't want my father to know about Nezm being my mate not because I didn't want him to know. I just didn't want his overprotective side to come out and possibly cause an issue between us. Beast is way to protective, just as much as my other father Alaric, and if course my father is.

'I understand son'. My father said sounding a little sad. I felt guilty for his pain.

I got off my bed and walked towards my father, wrapping him in my arms, hugging him tightly. I heard my father sigh and felt him relax in my arms

'See Laurent you raised him well'. I heard my mother say. Shocked at hearing her voice, I unwrapped my arms around my father and stared at my mother with aww.

'Nice to see you again Phoenix'. 'Not to be rude but why did Larry shift'? I heard my father ask my mother. Still to shocked to ask my own question, I waited for my mother to talk.

'I shifted because I wanted to see my son before he left'. 'I had a feeling when he begged me to block his mating senses, he would eventually want to leave'. 'He may not feel the pain, but he has eyes and can still see what his mate is doing'. My mother explained to my father. I watched as my father nodding his head agreeing with her.

'I will leave you two alone'. 'Phoenix please return my Larry when you are done talking to our son'. My father said walking out of my room without looking back.

'Your father will never change'. My mother said happily. I nodded my head agreeing with her.

"Thank you for seeing me before I leave mom". I told her happily.

'You didn't think I would let you leave without seeing you first did you'? She asked feigning surprised.

"I knew you wouldn't". I smiled at her.

We sat in my room and talked about me leaving for the Alpha Academy and how the distance may or may not affect Nezm and I's mating pull. I didn't want to think or talk about Nezm right now. All's I wanted was to visit with my mother before she had to shift back into my dad and I'm left alone in my room wondering again why my mate acted the way he did during dinner after my announcement.

'Phoenix I can practically hear your brain overthinking'. My mother said bringing me out of my thoughts.

"I'm sorry mom". "I just can't figure out why Nezm acted the way he did during dinner". I explained to her.

'That's understandable'. She said hugging me. 'Don't overthink it tonight, you'll have plenty of time over the next couple of years while you're in the Alpha Academy'. She told me.

"You're right". I said, hugging her tightly. I knew she was getting ready to shift back into my dad.

"I love you mom". I told her.

'I love you too'. She replied as she shifted back into my dad.

'Do you feel better son'? My dad asked. I nodded my head. In truth the talk with my mom helped me feel better about leaving.

"I love you dad". I told him, giving him a quick hug

'Love you too son'. He replied walking towards my door. 'And remember, you are already a strong Alpha, and I am proud of you'. He said walking out my door closing it behind him. I sighed crawling on my bed for some much needed sleep.

"Let tomorrow be a good day Moon Goddess". I silently prayed, finding sleep almost instantly.
