Phoenix POV:
I left the packhouse as soon as I woke up the next morning, against both my dad and father's wishes. Not because they changed their minds about me going to the Alpha Academy, but because I wanted to leave before either one of my uncles showed up at the packhouse for breakfast like they did almost every morning.
'Phoenix, you need to eat before you leave'. My dad gritted out softly, trying not to show his anger to me.
"Dad you know uncle Jackson will be the first one through those doors as soon as the sun starts peaking through the still sleepy sky". "He is always the first one here, especially on school days". "Besides it won't just be uncle Jackson it'll be uncle Egon and both Beast and Nezm". "After the announcement at dinner, our talk, my talk with mom and overhearing uncle Jackson trying to calm Nezm down, before they finally left". "I just can't go through that right now". "You have to understand". I explained, pleaded with my dad. I watched as he nodded his head and grab a set of car keys on the packhouse key hook and followed me out of the packhouse towards my parents personal car garage. I sighed happily, realizing I won't be riding the bus to the Alpha Academy, that my dad is driving me.
"Thank you dad". I thanked him happily.
'No need to thank me'. 'I had gone through some things with your father even before you were born'. He replied. I gasped shocked.
Our parents never told us anything about their relationship. They had only ever said every fated mate pair goes through trials and makes errors before becoming a strong unbreakable bond.
'Are you okay'? My dad asked me. I shook my head, then nodded my head, followed by shrugging my shoulders. I wasn't sure how I felt about hearing him having to go through things with my father before becoming the happiest man alive. I heard my dad sigh. I stared at his side view waiting for him to say something.
What felt like an eternity, but was mostly likely a few seconds or maybe a minute before my dad explained what he meant.
'Your father and I's relationship is not like yours and Nezm's'. 'Your father never cheated on me, knowing I was his mate'. 'When we told you pup's how important a true fated mate is, we meant it'. 'Your father truly did wait to find his mate'. 'He never slept around, like most Alpha's'. 'But we had our ups and downs'. My dad explained taking a deep breath before he spoke again.
'Now I am going to explain to you a few things that your father and I chose not to discuss with you pup's'. My dad said. He pulled over to the side of the road unbuckled his seatbelt and turn just a little so he was facing me. I instantly got nervous. I'm not sure I want to know what my dad has to say if he felt the need to pull over before telling me.
'Phoenix, as you know you are named after your mother'. 'We named you after her, not knowing she was your mother'. My dad said . I nodded knowing this already.
'Well before you were born, your father and I went through some serious family issues, that if you can guess right was caused by our family'. 'Well in my case we still aren't sure if the wolves that attacked me in your father's office was truly my family'. My dad said taking a deep breath. Questions began to run through my mind, and I wanted to ask him these questions but chose to wait.
'Well the day I was attacked, I was rushed to the pack hospital and your three older siblings were born'. 'They were born early, but healthy and strong'. 'Your father never left my side the whole time I was in the hospital'. My dad explained. I felt a stabbing pain in my heart from his words.
'Your father being an Alpha has always had this special aura that you never see in any other Alpha's. I nodded understanding him. I've watched my father's aura and it's this pure beam, no black or red like most Alpha's.
'Well because of your father's kind heartedness, he was able to control his anger and not rip the wolves apart while I was in the hospital recovering'. 'Unfortunately your father is a hybrid like you pup's, and all his anger being held in caused him to explode internally'. 'Somehow after his power surge he slipped into a coma'. 'When I visited him in the pack hospital, we had no spark, no mate pull, no link'. 'I told him I loved him and walked away leaving the packhouse'. 'No one came to check on me, except for your grandmother, but that was very few'. 'I felt a need to leave, but that was after your grandmother's last visit when she told me your father had woken up but doesn't remember him having found his mate or that he had pup's'. My dad explained as a tear rolled down his face.
"I'm sorry". I whispered giving him a tight hug.
'It still bothers me, but I'll be okay'. My dad said. I nodded my head not sure what to say. But my dad spoke up again.
'As you can see, we worked everything out, but it wasn't easy'. 'There was this witch that was after your mother, hence after me'. 'She helped destroy my pack when I was a pup'. 'When your father was out searching for the dark witch, he ran into a she-wolf that he felt the need to protect'. My dad gritting out the last part. I said nothing and just let him talk. 'There was something about her I did not like, and because of that your father and I actually stopped talking and even sleeping in the same bed'. My dad said taking a deep breath. 'There was this war, that I know you pup's have heard about, you and your siblings were split up just in case something happened to your father and I'. 'Three of you were placed in Miguel's care and three of you were placed in your uncle Jackson's care'. My dad said. 'After the war I was appointed Alpha, a title I refused to have, but the pack needed a leader until your father returned'. 'Three day's after the war your father returned, I gave him the cold shoulder for a few days until I felt as though he made up for the stupidity he had done'. My dad said smiling. 'So I know what you're going through, your need to leave'. 'That's one of the reasons your father and I agreed to let you go to the Alpha Academy'. My dad said, turning back into his seat, buckled his seatbelt and drove back onto the road. I sighed heavily.
'Your father has a heart of gold that's why I was able to forgive him'. My dad said. 'I want you to know that if you chose to reject your mate because of the pain he has caused you, I will stand by you'. My dad said not taking his eyes off the road.
I'm glad my dad explained to me about his and my father's relationship. True their issues were minor compared to mine.
"Thank you dad". I thanked him for his words.
The rest of the car ride was silent. I thought of everything my dad has told me and even though I am a little disappointed in my father, my dad is right my father has a heart of gold and it shows throughout our pack.
"Moon Goddess, why would you give me a mate that doesn't care how I feel"? I asked her silently.
