Lilith Jones's life started off completely normal...or as normal as it could for a child born with dark magic residing within her. Neither of her parents had the ability to practice witchcraft, so they were both surprised to learn of their daughter's abilities when they first came to light when she was just a few months old.

She had always been her father's least favourite child, due to her being born a daughter and also, being born with magic. Brennan Jones had always wanted to have sons, never daughters. So, when Lilith was born, he was bitterly disappointed; and would always choose to be with Lilith's twin or their older brother.

The girl barely knew her father and had grown a lot closer to her mother as a result. She was often teased by her brother's for being a mummy's girl, but she didn't care. She knew she was and she was happy about it.

When you pushed the childish teasing aside, Killian and Liam were two of her closest companions. Her brothers and her mother were the only ones she knew and trusted in life. And as much as she loved her father, she couldn't feel as strongly about him as she did with other family members; and he knew that.

Clutching her favourite straw doll tightly in her hand, five year old Lilith sat quietly on the floor of her family's small home, listening to one of the many arguments her parents had. They were always about the same thing - her. The five year old couldn't remember a time where they were arguing about anything else.

"We cannot keep her locked up forever!" Alice exclaimed. "She needs the chance to be a normal child!" Her bright blue eyes, usually filled with love and happiness, were filled with anger as she glared at her husband.

"She has never had the right to be normal. That was taken away from her before she was even born!" Brennan said. "Do you want people to find out about what she is?"

Alice scoffed. "Witches have been around for centuries! They will continue to be around for centuries to come! What she is, is nothing new."

"Yes but her magic-"

"Is not going to destroy us like you appear to think it is."

Brennan sighed as he took a few steps away from his wife, taking the brief moment to collect his thoughts. "Maybe..." He began as he turned around to face her. "Maybe we should send her away. We could send her somewhere where she will be safe and cared for. Your mother could offer her-"

"No."

"Alice..."

"I said no!" Alice snapped. "I am not going to banish our child because you are scared of her. She is five years old, Brennan. She is not a threat, she is your child! Start treating her like it!"

Alice turned her back on Brennan and began to walk away when she noticed the toddler watching her. Her daughter's piercing blue eyes were staring back into her own. "Lily." She spoke softly as she approached her daughter, scooping her up into her arms. "Let's put you back to bed."
