Red
Red looked straight ahead as she left her house, secretly wishing that the dwarf following her would disappear.
It was one thing for her mom to suggest he join her but Granny agreeing with her? Were they that desperate for her to marry?
"Hey why are you wearing her hood up?" He asked curiously. "It's spring, not winter."
"I like wearing my hood up," she said simply. "Nothing else."
"Ok. So where are we going?" He asked, trying his best to be casual.
"Listen," she said to him. "I don't need any help since I am only going to the mercantile for some gardening stuff. So you can go run along somewhere else if you want."
"I can't do that," replied Arthur. "Leave a poor girl to walk alone in town where she could possible run into thieves or ruffians?"
"Right, because thieves and ruffians love to hang around small villages, waiting to attack innocent, working girls like me," she said sarcastically. She knew that people like those were in bigger, more prosperous villages like the capital, home to richer people. "Thanks but I think will take my chances."
"I just trying to be gentleman," he said, defensively.
"Oh please," She scoffed, not believing him for a moment. "You just want to follow me everywhere for something."
"What?" He said with laugh. "That's crazy. What would possibly give you that idea?"
With a roll of her eyes, she stopped and turned to him. "You can quite with the dumb act. Why don't just save me the trouble and tell me what you want from me."
Arthur sighed, knowing that he had been caught. "Ok," he said. "I want you to kiss me."
"Anything else?" Asked Red, feeling that there had to be more to the story.
"That's it," he replied.
"You mean to tell me that the reason you asked around town looking for me was all because you wanted a kiss?"
"Yes," he said, looking a little bit smug.
"You know I'm not the only girl here right?" She asked snippily.
"Yes, I know that the obliviously," he said. "But I want the kiss to be from you."
"Why?" She asked.
"Because you are the most beautiful obviously," he said.
Red just stared at him for a moment before suddenly laughing. "You think..." she said between bouts. "That I... am... the most beautiful?"
"Yes," he said, confused. "Why is that funny?"
"Oh buddy," she said with a sigh. "You chose the wrong girl. For I am definitely not beautiful."
It was true. She just a plain, stick thin, girl with plain colored eyes and straw-colored hair. When most people in town described the most beautiful girl it was always Eloise Green with her silky blonde hair, hourglass figure, crystal blue eyes, and porcelain skin. Sure, her mom, granny and those close to the family said she was beautiful but they only said that to be nice.
That was ok she didn't care if she was pretty or ugly either way. To her a person's character was more important than their appearance. That was why she was good friends with Snow, or used to be.
"I beg to differ," he said. "For when I think you are gorgeous." He gave a wink. "Plus, you are the only girl in this town who does not find me disgusting."
