"Bumblebee, wait." Saphira called out to the yellow bot. He stopped and looked at her in surprise when he heard her voice. "Would you like to talk? I have no doubt that you are feeling a lot of different things. I imagine you are feeling scared, confusion and probably asking yourself 'Why me', and while I won't understand what it is like to lose an important organ...I do understand what it feels like to lose the feeling of knowing who you are."
The bot listened to her quietly and lowered his hand to her. She smiled and slid onto his open palm, and he moved her to his shoulder for her to sit on. "I am not sure if talking would help how I am feeling, Saphira. I am grateful for your concern. I guess...I am just not sure what I will do right now..." He continued to walk as he spoke to her. "This is not the first time I have felt like this...when I lost my voice box and had this voice as a replacement...I really thought I was useless then."
"But...you were able to still communicate," Saphira said softly as she listened to him. "And between you and me, I think your voice is actually cute." Bee looked at her sadly at her comment. "I am not kidding about that either. I really do think your voice is cute."
Bee turned into a door and walked into his berth room to sit on the end of his berth with a sad expression. He moved Saphira to sit on his knee. "I guess you are right, Saphira. I am able to communicate with almost everyone...it gets frustrating when I can't communicate with humans. I am glad that Raf was able to understand me...and then you can...though I know through your bond with Optimus, and possibly also due to you having partial relations with the Cybertronian race...but it is nice to talk and feel heard...I guess that is why I was very upset at the time..."
"I can understand, Bee..." Saphira knew it was frustrating for him and she smiled at him. "You know, Bee...a lot of people do go through what you are going through. Even humans."
"Oh yeah? And what exactly would they go through?" Bee asked her curiously, not sure if he should appreciate knowing what humans go through.
"There are a lot of people in the world who go through something and end up becoming disabled for the rest of their life. This could be due to an accident, sickness or, in some cases, they were attacked by something or someone. People can lose their voices too, people can also lose their sight and hearing...not everyone is born with that disability." Saphira watched Bee glance away from her as she spoke about what people go through on the planet. "And...a lot of the time, nothing can be done to reverse that. Medicine has come a long way so that people have have lost limbs can have prosthetics and be able to do what other people can do. However...it isn't always simple. Those things cost money. Unlike Cybertronians as when you lose a limb, it can be replaced."
"And we do not have money like you humans do. To me it is absurd, but it is something that will not ever come into Cybertronian society." Bee could see there were similarities to his situation. Humans are a lot more fragile than they were, and it was not easy for them to heal something if it is something like sight.
Saphira nodded in agreement. "I wish money didn't exist either. There isn't much I can do about that though, I suppose. But those are not the only things people can lose. Some people, in a terrible accident, may never be able to use their bodies again. Our spine...once it's broken...there's almost nothing that can be done for it. And that means people can literally lay in bed all day, someone has to feed them, roll them over and even help them with bathroom needs."
Bee hummed as he listened to her continue to speak about what humans go through. "I see what you are talking about, Saphira...I suppose I have it a bit better than some humans do. Though...when you lose an organ..."
"If we need an organ to be replaced for medical reasons, we need a donor," Saphira explained gently. "However...it isn't as simple as one things. People need to be matched to the donor so it is safe to receive the new organ...and when people die, they can opt to donate their organs for others so they may live. And sometimes...it does not happen." Bee looked at Saphira, his gaze softening as he listened to her. "You are not the only one, Bee. However, I did have my appendix removed when I was a child. But it would have killed me if it wasn't."
