Chapter 46

Saphira relaxed as best as she could on the bed as the wand is held on her stomach. She looked at the screen, and she could see the images of her sparklings. It was not the same kind of ultrasound that Ratchet had made to check on the sparklings, but it was fine. She saw they have grown a bit more since the last check up, and she was happy they were still growing...she had no idea what the rest of the important information would be. Mech had no device to read her nutritional intake like what Ratchet had made.

"They are definitely bigger than a normal human fetus," Ethan comments as he stared at the screen while Silas watched closely. "If she was to give birth at the usual nine-month mark, they would likely be nearly the size of an average six-month-old, any more than that...I cannot really predict."

Silas looked at Saphira curiously. "Do you have an idea?"

Saphira did not want to give the estimate that Ratchet had come up with and shook her head. "No...we don't...your assumptions have been the same for us...pretty much..."

Silas was satisfied with Saphira's response and looked at the screen as he observed the image. "Hmm...seems like they've taken more of their fathers' side..."

Ethan nodded in agreement. "Yes. It seems like their skeletal structure seems primarily that of the autobots and decepticons...although..." He moves the wand a little and Saphira listened closely to what he would say next. "I think there seems to be some form of flesh forming over the structure. It is very faint, but I think I see some. A little bit of an odd thing at this stage of development...but whether it is actual flesh, I am not sure."

"Hmm..." Silas was quite intrigued by what he is seeing as Ethan moved the wand again. "Is it possible to tell if they are male or female?" Saphira tensed a little upon hearing the question asked. "Unless..." The man side eyes Saphira suspiciously. "You already know."

Saphira pressed her lips together and took a deep breath. "No...Ratchet was having a hard time...they weren't developed enough the last time we had a check up to see and they were insisting on hugging each other. I do not know if they're mech or femme..."

"Ah, so that is what they call them." Silas shrugged and turned away from the doctor. "I have heard enough. Make sure you take photos of the sparklings for further information, Ethan. I think we have the information we need. Now get a sample of the amniotic fluids...if it wasn't a high risk of getting her stressed, I would want a sample directly from both sparklings."

Saphira shivered as she listened to Silas. "We will be getting those samples from the sparklings next week, sir. That is the intention. And...I have made progress in how to get samples of her bone tissue and marrow...which we should do in a couple weeks..."

Oh no...they found something on the x-rays!

Silas walked out of the room once Ethan finished speaking about what they planned to do to her and her sparklings over the next couple weeks. Saphira watched as Ethan took photos of the sparklings and removed the wand and cleaned the gel off her stomach. Once that was done, she closed the robe and hoped he would skip getting the amniotic fluid samples.

That hope was quickly thrown out when Ethan gestured for the other doctors to come over to help him. They walked over to grab her right leg to lift and place onto a strap to keep her from closing her legs. Her cast was placed on a support stand, making her groan as pain shot through her leg. Saphira took a deep breath, trying not to cry, but she couldn't stop tears from rolling down her cheeks.

'Optimus...I hope you will reach me soon...they intend to do more tests on me and the sparklings...' Saphira said through the bond in a sad, desperate tone. 'The doctor is going to get amniotic fluid samples now...thankfully no samples directly from the sparklings together...they will next week though.'
