Taking deep, controlled breaths, focusing on nothing that was around her. Saphira focused, slowing her heartbeat as she focused inward on herself. It took sometime before she felt an odd connection. It wasn't the same as the bonds she had with her sparkmates, but it felt familiar. It was like she already knew what it was, but forgot about it. And in that moment, she took a step forward mentally.
And there she found herself surrounded by clouded glass. She looked around, less panicked than she had been in her dream. She focused carefully and touched the glass. She almost pulled back at how cold the glass felt. It was almost like when Optimus returned from the Arctic when he almost perished and she hugged him. But it felt worse, but it didn't burn her like it would have normally.
"It seems you have finally come to your senses." Saphira was startled by the strong, feminine voice around her. She didn't recognize it and saw the glow of a female figure appear again outside. "You have been working so hard conquering many things that have been happening to you. Now it is time to overcome the fear of yourself."
Saphira frowned as she listened to the voice. It sounded like her. "Why do you sound like me?"
"Because I am you, or rather, the other side of you," The woman responded gently. "Only you can break out of that box and embrace who you are, Saphira. Once you have fully accepted who you are, you will be able to break through the glass."
She didn't understand what the woman meant, but she had to think. At first there was nothing that she thought of herself was strange. However, she wondered if by accepting her identity was the key. She had been thinking of herself as an abomination for sometime. So it made sense she built a cage around herself.
She closed her eyes, thinking deeply about it before she felt warmth around her. She opened her eyes and widened them, looking around to see she was inside a small bedroom with a mirror. She looked at herself briefly before realizing there was no door in this room. Only a window. She ran over to it and saw she was high up in a tower.
Now I'm like Rapunzel?
"In many ways, you and Rapunzel have a similar story. While you do not have the same hair, you both are trapped. You never needed a Gothel in your life to hold you back, but your own thoughts and self esteem is your Gothel." Saphira grimaced and stepped away from the window, feeling nervous all of a sudden. "You must learn to rely on yourself, Saphira. The power of Primus is with you, and will stay with you until you reach your time."
Saphira turned to face the mirror, staring at herself. She looked over her body and saw she was still beautiful, even after everything she has been through. "I am beautiful..."
"Yes, your beauty has not changed. Scars may have healed on your body, but your mind has remained scarred to the point you believe that you are nothing. You are so much more than that." Saphira shivered a little as she didn't know if she should listen to this voice. "Remember courage is not the absence of fear, but the understanding of something being more important than fear. You know what is important, and it isn't the fear of the unknown."
Saphira clenched her eyes shut and shook her head. "But...I don't think I am even worthy of such power!"
"You know all too well that Optimus once felt the same before he became a Prime. Greatness is not born from your first breath, but born through your experiences, losses and victories. Greatness comes from the heart, and it is because you believe you are not worthy makes you the most worthy candidate for this power." Saphira shivered and sat down, holding her arms tightly as she trembled. "You do not need to be afraid. This is who you are, Saphira."
Saphira did not open her eyes, she felt afraid. She felt she was somewhere cooler again, and assumed it was the glass box. "I never asked for this!"
"You are right, you did not. Primus did not have to create you, and he could have allowed the war to continue with more lives lost and human blood spilled. You know that." She did not want to admit that it would be different without her. "You are no goddess or queen, that is a title I know you do not want. But you do not need a title for greatness. A title does not make you great, your actions do."
