Chapter 49

Three Months Later...

So the idea and hope that Saphira would be rescued sooner than later pretty much disappeared after the Star Saber had been retrieved. This is mostly due to the fact Saphira was moved to a new location. After Silas tried finding out if Saphira was aware of the Saber and if she knew about the mine on Mars, as he was furious when told the tungsten mine had been destroyed, the man had Saphira sedated and moved to a new location.

When that happened, Shockwave was able to learn that Saphira had been taken to location within Wyoming itself. And with the upgraded scanning system of the Nemesis, they did find two possible location that were giving off almost no signal coming from them. This meant this location was heavily fortified and finding the exact entrance to the place was harder than first thought.

Soundwave has been busy scouring the state with Laserbeak in order to find the entrance, though the state's unpredictable weather was making it extremely difficult. But he was determined to find the entrance. Even resorting to following unmarked vehicles with Mech personnel inside has not yielded anything as of yet.

Optimus took a couple months to recover from the sting he received from the scorpion bot, as did Bulkhead and Arcee from the bites of the spiders. Though their systems bounced back quicker than Optimus's and they weren't in as much pain from the bite like Optimus was, they still needed time to recover. Optimus felt like he had been experiencing cybonic plague all over again, as that is the equivalent of what it felt like.

And it took Ratchet and Knockout sometime to figure out an antivenom to counteract the poison in his system. They were glad that the venom wasn't lethal, though Ratchet did believe it would kill them if left untreated. During this time, Shockwave was able to complete his task on the Mech bots, and figured several different signal frequencies that were being used in the different Mech bots.

Now they had a fix on every Mech bot, this included any new spider and scorpion bots that Mech has made. Though the production of their bots have slowed substantially now they no longer had access to the tungsten mine on Mars. Mech would need to resort to buying the metal on Earth, but they could not as tungsten was used for making things needed for humans on the planet, and not so much for the military.

And it seems that Starscream had cut contact after leaving for the Harbinger. Megatron did investigate and found that Starscream was extremely focused and didn't want any distractions, that was why he didn't contact them. And he has remained at the Harbinger with no hint on what he was working on. Only repeating that what he was working on will help them save Saphira. And not one of them knew what that meant.

And during these few months, Saphira and her sparklings were forced to endure further experiments. The sparklings have had samples taken from them more than once, and Saphira had to endure as painful experience of Ethan using a special tool to push through her skin and into her thigh bone to get bone marrow samples, bone tissue samples and even scraped fragments of the bone itself for study. It was extremely painful and Saphira endured nerve pain for two weeks from that.

Aside from that, she also was made to get an MRI of her brain and body as well. It seemed whatever Ethan was discovering he wanted to keep finding out more. Even more blood samples were taken from her. Saphira was tired of these tests, and she had lost hope that she would even be rescued. Especially as her morning sickness returned with a vengeance, both sparklings seemed to be acting like they are in pain since Optimus's infliction from the bot and Saphira was really having a hard time of even keeping weight on. In fact, she began losing weight a month ago.

It didn't necessarily bother Silas, but he did worry that because she was losing weight, the sparklings were starving. So Saphira was on a UV drip all the time now. She was still drinking plenty of white energon, which was still good. But she needed a lot more than that.
