Two Days Later...

Megatron was sitting on the side of the berth with both hands either side of him. Ratchet was doing some basic checks on his body and system, and having Megatron move his hands and legs to ensure they were working properly. He had woken up earlier that day, and it took Megatron sometime to realize that Saphira was not there in the base. His bond with Saphira felt like she was not there, and he was right when Ratchet confirmed it with him. It took him sometime to get over the shock of knowing Saphira was not there.

Then he became angry, thinking it was Smokescreen's fault. However, Optimus sat with Megatron and spoke to him that this was no one's fault, except Mech. They could not have known that Mech would find Saphira in one of the most central parts of the country. It took a bit of time, and Megatron spoke to Saphira during this time to see how she and the sparklings were.

Saphira reassured Megatron that she was alive, she was not unharmed, but she was alive. She told him she loved him, and was waiting to come home. She did also tell him she was taking time to try and reach through the bond so they could locate her. It was not working yet so far, but Megatron had hope that she could do it. He didn't want to rely on just their own technology to find her. He knew that they were looking, and Fowler was doing his best too.

Though it was discovered there were Mech spies in the military. After a thoroughly investigation, ten Mech personal were discovered within military ranks. They were currently being kept under lock and key with intensive interrogation daily. Optimus had actually requested to be a part of the interrogation, but Fowler felt that they would be able to wear the men down eventually. They have only been at the interrogation for two days, after all.

And now Optimus was working on locating the last Iacon relic. Megatron just felt...helpless. It was a feeling he was not used to. Even though he could still speak to Saphira, he could not see what was happening to her. He could feel a dull ache in his left leg, which he knew was from Saphira due to hers being broken. Optimus told him that Mech has refused to give her pain relief, and ended up moving and setting the bones without it. Megatron was somewhat glad that he was not awake to feel that, but at the same time, he felt guilty he couldn't share the pain with her.

"I have to say Megatron, you are on the mend," Ratchet said to him with a gentle smile. "Your limbs are not stiff, so long as you work on regaining more strength of course." He turned away to put his tools away with a deep sigh. "We need you back up on your feet as fast as possible."

"I know..." Megatron groaned a little and shook his head slightly. "But I feel like I don't know what to do right now, Ratchet." The medic turned and looked at him with a sympathetic expression. "I was so close...and I got shot down by something that looked like me..." He moved his hands to his thighs, staring down at them sadly. "I feel like I failed her, Ratchet...that is what I feel."

"Optimus said the exact same thing." Megatron was unsurprised. He and Optimus felt like they have failed their sparkmate. "But I implore that you do not give up. I know I won't. Not while my spark still pulses." Megatron glanced at Ratchet briefly before looking back down. "Megatron, this year has been...well...full of unexpected surprises. We unintentionally brought more humans into our lives due to the danger the decepticons posed to them. I hated the very idea of having humans around here. And when we discovered that Saphira was homeless...well..." The silver mech looked up slightly as he listened to Ratchet. "I was against the idea. I wanted no human living here. And it was a selfish thing to feel. I didn't want to have to worry about where my feet were, I want to have to think about getting food for the human and any other needs humans have that we don't. Plus, I did not see that they could provide us with help. And...it did not take long for me to realize that I was wrong...in fact, it is one of those times where I have never been so wrong in my life."
