Hidden Spark on Earth II (TFP)

Chapter 69

Saphira managed to step around the items within the cave, not wanting to disturb any of the native tools that had been left here. She shines her her light at the paintings on the wall, curious about what stories they might have. She saw pictures of tribal villages and hunting, which seemed to describe the life of the people that lived around the canyon. There was even a painting of the canyon itself, the animals that live here and so on. It was a nice painting. She moved further into the cave and there was some more paintings.

She was surprised as the next set of paintings seemed to depict burial rituals. She looked away from the pictures as she had to focus on finding the Omega Key. She was still a little nervous about the possibility of Galvatron being nearby, but she doubted he could do anything to her. At least that is what she was thinking in her mind. She was able to not need to crouch as she moved further into the cave as she found herself in a tunnel with a higher ceiling.

She was extremely relieved as she did not want to be crouched the entire time. If she was, she would have demanded a really good massage from one of her sparkmates. Saphira shines the flashlight around in search of the key. There were not any other signs natives had been this far in the cave, but she wanted to be sure in case she had to avoid it.

She gasped and turned when she heard the sound of scurrying suddenly. She shines the light around to see if she could spot anything, but she didn't see anything. 'Are you alright, Saphira?' Optimus's concerned voice asked. 'Did you find the key?'

'Um...not yet...but...I thought I heard something...' Saphira took a deep breath and turned back around to keep walking. 'I hope it was just my imagination, and not the dreaded feeling of walking into some kind of horror movie...'

'Let us know if you still hear anything more...Ultra Magnus and Dreadwing have detected more movement, and have gone to investigate.'

That was not good. Saphira took a deep breath as she continued to walk through the tunnel and keeping a close ear out for any sound that might suggest that something was following her. Her heart thumped loudly in her chest, and she hoped to find the key very soon. She didn't like being in this tunnel, and the temperature was dropping as well. Enough to make her shiver a little. She kept walking and followed the tunnel through an archway, opening into a much larger cavern.

However, Saphira widened her eyes when she saw what was around. Carved into the ground and walls of the cave, there were gaps that had been clearly made by humans. And within these were skeletal remains of the tribal people of the past. Saphira tensed a little as this was literally the start of a horror film to her. She knew none of them could possibly come to life, but that didn't mean she wasn't scared.

'I think I just found the purpose for this cave...at least for the native tribe of the Grand Canyon...' Saphira said to both Optimus and Megatron nervously.

'You found the key? Or...some other kind of object?' Megatron asked curiously. He could hear her nervousness as he knew it was not either, but wanted to ask the questions anyway.

'Umm...this isn't just...a cave where they would store things and paint...it is a tomb...there are hundreds of bodies here...' Saphira shuddered as she walked through carefully, keeping the center as much as possible to avoid disturbing the graves. 'I know it isn't possible, but I am...' She paused and turned when she heard another sound of scuttering, metal scuttering. She swallowed and looked around carefully. 'Something moved again...it sounded like metal...kind of like a scraplet...'

Saphira shines the light around, trying to see what could be in the cavern with her. She whimpered a little nervously and turned to keep walking quickly. She assumed that the key was around here somewhere, so she looked around quickly.
