Chapter 23

Once they arrived in the dark hallways of the warship, Optimus glanced around cautiously as he did not truly know what to expect. Megatron was still relaxed, and he hasn't given them reason to not trust him so far. Especially given the truce they now had, and Megatron didn't seem interested in causing harm to Saphira through Optimus, so he knew he should not have to worry. But Arcee and Bumblebee knew why they were requested to go with Optimus to the ship. It was just in case something did happen.

"Have you considered renovating the ship?" Arcee asked curiously with a smirk. "Lighten up the place the bit and add a few extra windows would make the place look nicer. It still feels like a dark place."

"Considering this ship is more than just a ship, renovating it is a lot harder than you might think, Arcee," Megatron responded calmly. "Although, adding some more features to the inside of the vessel wouldn't be too hard to do. I have not really considered it because the warship's condition has been the least of my concern for a long time. However...if your base ever was destroyed and you had to come aboard for safety, I could see why you would ask that about me."

Bumblebee chuckled softly. "I hardly think we should worry about our base being destroyed, unless you happened to destroy it yourself."

Megatron glanced over his shoulder at Bumblebee. "Do not mistake my words, scout. I was not referring to myself. We shouldn't underestimate the enemy currently licking their wounds. We destroyed one asset of theirs, but there is likely others. But first you should download Project Iacon. I believe that is important for you before we go to Soundwave to find out what he has discovered."

"I somehow have a bad feeling about," Arcee comments with a concerned expression. "And humans call it a gut feeling, something they say that listening to it is often a wise thing to do." She placed her hands on her arms and shuddered. "I don't know why, if I am honest."

"I have learned a lot about humans since I stopped fighting and began interacting with them," Megatron said with a smile on his face. "They might be small, they might be annoying sometimes and they talk very loud for something so small. But, I have found they have a lot more to them than meets the eye. Their lives might be short, but I think because of that, they carry a wisdom that we don't share with them." He glanced at Optimus with a smile. "Do you remember when Saphira had us watch the Hobbit with her?" He nodded at the silver mech. "And Galadriel asked Gandalf 'why the halfling', and his response to that question explained that simple acts of kindness and love kept the darkness at bay, over great power." Optimus smiled as Megatron spoke of the movie. He remembered that movie well. "Saphira kind of embodies that too. And while not all humans are like that, the human children definitely have that quality too. They've proven to you, and myself, that you don't need to have an army or power to hold evil at bay."

"I see those movies have become an inspiration to you, Megatron," Optimus said in an amused town. "I don't blame you. Saphira told me it is her favorite movies and books of all time. She even read a part of it to me when I was sick with the Cybonic Plague."

The silver mech let out a light chuckle. "What did we do to deserve such a girl, Optimus? We have been fighting for so long, this sometimes feels like a dream. I feel afraid that this is just a part of my sub conscious, and I am still on this ship on life support."

Bumblebee looked at Megatron in surprise. "You...you're afraid this is just a dream?" Megatron nodded. "Huh...it never occurred to me that you would feel that way. I guess I can understand, given the long history we have and the war. I guess a part of you is worried that you'll wake up one day and we will still be fighting, and Saphira isn't carrying and she isn't your sparkmate." He nodded again, his face softening as the scout spoke. "That's quite heavy...it truly is..."
