Rose follows my hand, towards the body. Her eyes widen immediately once she sees it. "Slater.." She breathes, quickly hurrying over to the body. "I don't think he's gonna be much help anymore.." I say, looking back to Elena. "Looks like whoever blew up the coffee shop found him and killed him for his information.." I add. "Yeah.." Elena says with a sigh. "Probably to stop him from helping people like us." Rose says. "Well, from what you told us of him, sounded like the guy was a Vampire Almanac. Unfortunately, knowing too much information just bit him in the a**." I say, looking to Rose, who was walking back to us.
Looking back at Elena, I see her walk over to the man's desk, fishing through the many papers on it. "So, what do we do now?" I ask her. "Maybe something on this will help us.." she says, pointing at the 6 monitors in front of her. Hearing this, I raise my brow. "The computers? What, you expect this Klaus guy posted an ad saying 'Doppelganger and Werewolf wanted for sacrifice, click this link for an application' or something..? Be real Elena." I say, rolling my eyes. "You have any better ideas?" She asks. I sigh and shake my head. "Alright, point taken. What should I do?" I ask. "Look through these papers with me. We've gotta find the password." She says. As I go to help her, Rose sighs and walks to the window, opening the dark curtains. "Well damn, I didn't think his death hit you that hard." I say, earning a glare from Rose. "Its Tempered Glass. UV rays can't penetrate." Rose says, rolling her eyes, and looking out the windows with a sigh. "I use to just come here and watch the day.." Rose says, losing herself in thought.
Elena grabs a picture frame, and looks at it, showing Slater and a Dark haired woman smiling happily. "I'm sorry about Slater.." Elena says, after a few moments of silence. "Any luck?" Rose asks, pushing her thoughts away, to turn back to us. "Not on my end, Elena?" I ask. She's about to answer, when we hear something behind us. The three of us quickly turn in that direction. I make sure to step in front of Elena, as I scan the condo we were in. "Stay here." Rose says, before walking towards a closed door, slowly opening it just enough to see what was around. However, the moment she does, she widens her eyes and opens the doors fully. "Alice..?" Rose asks, right before the dark haired woman from the picture, runs into her arms. "Rose!" The woman now known as Alice says, grabbing onto Rose in sadness. "He's dead.." Alice says, before sobbing loudly. I narrow my eyes, refusing to let my guard down, just in case. This woman...how long has she been here? Something didn't sit right with me about all this. So, I stay infront of Elena.
Rose takes the woman away into another room, so they can talk. After a few minutes, Rose returns. "Well?" I ask. "She found him a few minutes before we did. She got scared when 'Somebody' kicked the door open." Rose says, eyeing me. I roll my eyes and look back to what I'm doing. "How is she?" Elena asks, changing the subject. "Overreacting. Big time." Rose says. "Her boyfriend just died. There's no such thing as overreacting." Elena defends. Hearing this, Rose shakes her head silently, before getting closer to us. "Those tears are for her. She didn't care about Slater. She was only dating him long enough to see if he'd turn her.." Rose says quietly, so only we can hear her. I shake my head. "You know, I never understood the whole thing with that. In what world do they live in, that they see a bloodsucker and think, 'Here's a great idea! Let's only live off of Blood and never be able to go outside during the day again, I've always wanted to turn into ash in the sunlight!' Like seriously, what part of that is considered appealing..?" I ask. Rose simply rolls her eyes at this, while Elena shakes her head, and stands. "I'm gonna go check on her." Elena says, and walks towards Alice. Seeing this, I speak. "Hey Elena, since you're already going over there, and both of you are humans dating Vampires, why don't you try to pry the password for her boyfriend's computer out of her, while bonding over your poor choices in men." I say quickly, earning the 'really' face from Elena. I scoff and roll my own eyes. "Well someone had to say it.." I mumble to myself, before I continue to look through the papers we had left.
After a while, as I'm looking through the papers, I look over to Elena and Alice. "You look really familiar, did you know Slater?" Alice asks. "Not personally, no." Elena says, before looking towards me. Seeing her looking, I urge her to ask. Seeing this, Elena sighs, and nods at me, before looking back to Alice. "I just knew that he kept detailed records of all of his Vampire contacts...and I was hoping that he could point me towards Klaus.." Elena says. Alice scoffs and shakes her head. "Doubtful. Klaus doesn't wanna be pointed out." Alice explains. "Do you know Slater's computer password?" Elena asks, not even bothering to be sneaky about it. I sigh and high five my forehead. Subtle Elena...real subtle.. "Are you seriously asking me that right now? I just saw my boyfriend with a stake through his heart." Alice says, still playing the distraught girlfriend act. "I understand that. But do you know his password?" Elena asks again. Alice scoffs. "Who do you think you are?" Alice asks. I scoff, going over what Rose told us about her. I know her type.. "She's not gonna tell us unless she gets what she wants out of all this." I say, more to myself than anyone else. However, Elena still hears this, and moves in closer to Alice. "What if I could convince Rose to turn you?" Elena asks, making Alice perk up immediately. Hearing this, also makes Rose's eyes widen, as she looks towards Elena in shock. "Told ya." I say, looking back towards the pile of papers still unread. "Will you show us his files then?" Elena asks, knowing she won. Alice smiles and nods her head eagerly.
Soon, we're all standing behind Alice, as she logs in. "Someone's been here. Hard drive's wiped out." Alice says, pointing at the 'No Data Found' pop-up in the middle of the screen. "Yeah, probably whoever killed him." Rose says, clearly annoyed that Elena used such a technique. "Lucky for you, Slater was paranoid. Everything's backed up on our remote server." Alice says, typing more into another log in screen. As she focuses on that, I notice Rose's annoyance. "Aww, why the long face Rose?" I say quietly, in amusement. Rose shoots a glare towards me, before she looks towards Elena. "You know she's not going anywhere near my blood, right?" Rose asks just as quiet. "I know. But she doesn't." Elena mumbles so only we could hear, before walking towards Alice. I scoff and shake my head. "It's called baiting Rose. Honestly, it's the oldest trick in the book. Dangle what the person wants most above their head and they'll do anything to get it." I mumble so only Rose could hear. Finally Rose understands and smirks to herself, almost looking impressed. With that, she and I walk closer to Alice as well.
