A few hours later..
When I open my eyes next, I'm once again Human. Hearing Tyler awaken a few seconds later, I quickly get up and check on him. "You alright? I didn't hurt you, did I?" I ask. Tyler shakes his head. "I'm fine, don't worry. Sorry about that...still takes a while to regain control after turning.." he says. I shake my head. "It's fine, took me a year before I could.." I say in understanding, before remembering we weren't alone. As if remembering as well, both of us turn towards mom. She sat there, leaning against the bars to the cage, and staring at us. "I'll take care of it. I'll make sure nothing happens to her.." Mom says, on the verge of tears. It was clear she was both relieved and worried about us. "Thank you...and...sorry, about last night...I didn't have control yet.." Tyler says apologetically. "..as long as you're both okay...that's all that matters.." she says. Nodding, the two of us grab our scattered clothing, and get dressed.
Later that night..
After mom had called Caroline's father, and failed to convince him to let her go, Tyler and I were told to find Sheriff Forbes. Once we did, it didn't take her long to find where he was. Soon, we're at an undisclosed location, which had a Vampire torture cell, complete with two easily accessible air vents for vervain mist to be filtered in, and a sun roof. Once there, the Sheriff tells us to wait outside the door, before walking through, and loading her gun, pointing it at Caroline's father. "Hello, Bill." The Sheriff says. "Put the gun down, Liz. I know what I'm doing." Bill says. The Sheriff shakes her head. "That's our daughter in there. She looks up to you. She loves you." She replies. "Then, she'll trust me to do the right thing. Let me do this, Liz. Not because she's a monster, but because we love her." He says. Scoffing, I shake my head silently. Torture's one hell of a way to show love.. After a few moments of silence, the Sheriff speaks. "Tyler, Rae." She calls to us. Hearing this, we walk into view, confusing the father. "You're not going in there." The father says, earning a bullet to the wall just a few inches away from him.
Seeing him stop, Tyler quickly hurries down the stairs, while I grab the railing, and launch over it, landing on the ground below, just as Tyler takes the last step. The father stubbornly stays infront of the door. Seeing this, I narrow my eyes. "You're in the way. Move." I say while grabbing his shoulder, and pushing him out of the way, keeping him pinned in the corner, while Tyler unlocks the door. Once open, Caroline's weak voice calls out his name. Hearing this, he hurries inside, and begins tearing off her bindings. "It's okay, you're gonna be alright. I'm gonna get you out of here." He says. Soon, he carries her out of the room and looks to me. I nod at him. "You three go first, I'll make sure he doesn't try anything." I say. Nodding, Tyler hurries upstairs. Looking to me, the Sheriff speaks. "Just...don't hurt him. He'sstill Caroline's father." She says. "Don't worry Sheriff, one death on my conscience is enough for me." I reassure her, keeping my eyes on Bill. Hearing her footsteps fade, I wait until I hear them cross the doorway, before letting him go, and making my way upstairs after them.
Once we reach the sheriff's house, and Caroline is escorted inside by her mother, I stop at the doorway. "Hey, Ty. I'm gonna head home." I say, catching his attention. "You sure?" He asks. I nod. "Yeah, no reason for me to hang around. Besides, I'm sure you'll wanna be with her tonight anyway." I say with a shrug. "Yeah, thanks." He says quietly. I smile and nod. "Just...when you leave here, be careful getting home. That Man could show up at any time." I warn him. He nods in understanding. "I will, promise." He says. Hearing this, I nod. "Goodnight, Lil bro." I say, taking a few steps backwards, before turning, and walking away.
Early September..
Before we knew it, Summer had ended. Thankfully, there was still no sign of Klaus, but for some reason, ever since the Chilli cook-off we had a few days ago at our place, I've felt uneasy. Today, was no different. Due to feeling this way, I started worrying about Tyler's safety more, and it showed. He was quickly getting more and more annoyed with me. Unfortunately, because of this, he had left the house without telling me. After a while of him dodging my calls, I called Caroline instead. Although she tried to hide it, she let slip that it was Senior Prank Night. Knowing that meant he was at the high school, I quickly make my way towards it. The closer I got to the school, I became more and more uneasy. Entering from the back of the school, I look both ways down the hallway, before stepping inside. "Tyler..?" I call out loudly, seeing if he'd get over himself, and answer. No one responds. Rolling my eyes, I sigh, and close the door behind me.
A few moments later..
After searching a while, I turn down another dimly lit hallway, as I dial his number on my phone. It goes straight to voice-mail. Sighing in annoyance, I wait for the tone. Once it sounds, I speak. "Cmon little brother, this isn't funny! Look, I know you're annoyed at me, alright? But I've got a really bad feeling tonight! Just call me back, alright?" I say into the phone with a sigh, before hanging up. Tucking my phone back into my pocket, I sigh, and shake my head. As I do so, the sound of two pairs of footsteps behind me, find my ears, making me turn towards them, hoping one of them was Tyler. However, when I do so, it isn't Tyler that I see. It's Elena, alongside a man I couldn't recognize. "Elena..?" I ask hesitantly, seeing the man holding her arm tightly. Hearing me call out to her, the man next to her speaks. "And who might you be..?" He asks curiously.
