Hearing this, worry fills my chest. "Is Tyler..?" I trail off, unable to say it, fearing the worst. "He is alive." Elijah replies. The tone of his voice still worries me. "Klaus..?" I ask. "...that is what I wish to discuss.." he says hesitantly. Swallowing nervously, I speak. "Go ahead.." I say quietly. He's silent for a long while, worrying me further. Seeing he was still silent after a few minutes, I speak again. "He's alive...isn't he.." I say, not bothering to ask. Elijah is still quiet. Shaking my head slightly at his reluctance to speak, I sigh in defeat. "What happened, Elijah..?" I ask. After a few moments, he sighs, and speaks. "Ms. Lockwood, did I...ever tell you of my reason for wanting Klaus dead..?" He asks. "No." I say. "I see. As I told you and Elena, I had 6 other siblings." He says, before continuing. "I say 'had' because...previously, to my knowledge...over the centuries, Klaus hunted them down one by one, and took them from me." He explains. Hearing this, my eyes widen, before narrowing in sadness for him. "So that's why you wanted to kill him.." I say, before sighing. "Yes." He says. "Last night, I had every intention of killing him. My hand had already pierced through his chest. All I had to do, was tear his heart out, and I would've.." he says, before trailing off. "But..?" I ask, sensing there was a 'but'.
He sighs again. "Just as I was about to deal the final blow...he revealed that he had hidden our family...that he would reunite me with them if I let him live.." he explains. Hearing this, I close my eyes, seeing where this was going. "And you believed him.." I say quietly. He's silent for a few moments, before finally speaking. "...I did.." he admits. I nod my head, before shaking it in disappointment. Oldest trick in the book, promising to give the one thing the would-be-killer wanted, in exchange for their life.. Sighing, I speak. "Of course you did.." I say in disappointment. "Before you judge my actions, tell me. If the circumstances were reversed...if you were in my shoes, and Tyler was in Klaus', what would you have done? Were he to promise to bring you to your mother and Uncle; whom you thought he murdered; in exchange for his life, would you not have done the same..?" He asks firmly. I try to argue this, but realize I can't. He's right...if the situation was reversed...I probably would've done the same thing...even if I knew it could be a trap.. "You know the answer to that.." I say quietly. "Precisely. I could not risk it. If he truly has my family, Klaus is the only one who can bring me to them. He knew as long as he gave me the slightest amount of hope, I could not refuse his offer." He says. Sighing, I shake my head.
