Shortly after Mother's toast, Raelyn had left the main hall, prompting me to look for her. However, as I'm walking down one of the halls, someone calls out to me from behind. Turning, I see Mayor Lockwood standing there waiting. Seeing me look towards her, she speaks again. "Can I talk to you for a moment?" She asks. Hearing this, I tilt my head slightly. Seeing the look in her eyes, I could tell it was important, so, I nod my head in acceptance. "Of course." I say, motioning for her to follow me. Once we find a quiet place to talk, I speak. "Is there something I can help you with?" I ask curiously. Hearing this, she speaks. "I hope so." She says, sighing quietly, before continuing. "Earlier, my daughter mentioned that you saved her life twice now. Is this true?" She says, walking further into the room. "It is, and had I been able to, I would have stopped my brother from forcing her to become one of his Hybrids as well.." I say, before sighing.
"Unfortunately, my brother saw to it I was unable to interfere. For that, I am truly sorry." I say. Hearing this, she nods her head in acceptance. "I believe you. I can tell you care for her, Elijah. Which is why, I have a request." She says. Tilting my head, I motion for her to continue. "If an opening ever appears...I want you to take her far away from this place. It doesn't matter where, just as long as she's far away from Klaus. My son, Tyler, has already made his escape. Will you make sure she does the same?" She asks. Hearing this, I nod, and speak. "This has been my plan from the very beginning, since we were reunited. My original plan was to take her away, once I reunited with the rest of my siblings. Due to certain circumstances, I have been forced to postpone those plans. However, I Give You My Word, Mayor Lockwood, once the opportunity arises, I will do as you asked. Raelyn will have her freedom, I will make sure of this." I say. Hearing this, she sighs in relief. "Thank you." She says with a relieved smile. "Of course." I say, nodding my head, before starting to take my leave. "I saw the way the two of you danced tonight...I haven't seen her smile like that in a very long time.." she trails off, stopping me. "I guess what I'm trying to say is...take care of her, Elijah." She says, almost sad. "I will do everything within my power. This, I promise you." Is all I say, before walking away.
Raelyn's P.O.V.
A few moments later..
I step out onto one of the second floor balconies, taking in the crisp night air. I had stayed in the main hall for a while after the toast, but, once the guests had begun to leave, I decided to take a breather. Finally finding a quiet place, I let out a relieved sigh, and walk to the railing, leaning over it. I'll just stay out here for a while.. Sighing, I look out over the grounds, enjoying the peace and quiet. As I do, a sudden feeling of something warm gently being draped over my shoulders, soon catches my attention. Looking down, I see the familiar jacket, and smile, before clutching at it gently. "Thanks.." I say, glancing over my shoulder, already knowing who it was. Elijah gives a charming smile and nods. "Apologies for the wait." He says. Shaking my head softly, I speak. "It's alright, you did what you had to do." I say reassuringly. "So...how'd it go with Elena?" I ask. "She claims we have nothing to worry about." He says, walking up next to me, our shoulders lightly touching as he leans over the railing with me. "She lied, just as you expected." He says. Hearing this, I sigh, and shake my head. "Of course she did.." I breathe out, shaking my head in disappointment. "So much for our night off, huh..?" I ask with a rueful smirk.
