"Are you sure she would do something like that?" Tyler asks, as we pull into the driveway. I scoff and put it in park. "Oh, I know she did. I just hope we aren't too late.." I say, stepping out. "What if she doesn't cooperate with us..? I mean, she's in the council, right? Don't they think all Vampires are monsters?" He asks. Hearing this, I sigh, and speak. "You wanna save Caroline, don't you?" I ask. "Of course I do." He says. "Then we don't take no for an answer." Is all I say, before opening the door, and walking inside the house.
Just as mom's turning a light on in the study, Tyler speaks. "You put Vervain in our coffee this morning. Why?" Tyler asks, making mom jump in surprise at his quiet entrance. "Vervain? What are you talking about?" Mom asks. "How about we skip the part where you play dumb." I say, leaning a shoulder against the doorway, crossing my arms over my chest. "And while we're at it, let's skip the part where we pretend we don't know about the Vampires in this town." Tyler adds. Hearing this, mom's act drops, before she shoots a glare towards me. "How much did your sister tell you, exactly?" Mom asks him, keeping the glare on me. Scoffing, I speak. "You give me too much credit, anyone with two eyes, and some common sense would know the truth about this town." I say. Mom shakes her head in disappointment. "You were testing me to see if I was a Vampire. I wanna know why." Tyler says. "I told you why." I say. "I know, but I wanna hear it from her." He says. Looking between us, mom sighs. "You've been spending so much time with Caroline, I had to know for sure." She says. "Did you do something to her? Where is she?" He asks, walking closer. "Tyler, I don't want you to be with her." Mom says, fiddling with her necklace. "Told you." I say.
"You didn't answer my question." He says to her. "I can't let you be together." Mom says nervously. "What did you do? Where is she?" He asks her. "You can't be with her! She's a monster." Mom says. Hearing this, I scoff, shake my head, and speak. "Oh, if only you knew.." I say with a slight chuckle. Hearing this, Tyler furrows his brows, and looks to me. "Wait, does she--" He cuts himself off, before looking towards mom. "You don't know about us, do you?" He asks. "Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner." I say sarcastically. "Know what?" Mom asks. Seeing neither of us gave a response, mom looks between us confused. "Know what..?" She asks nervously. Hearing this, Tyler sighs, and looks towards me. "Hey, when you said don't take no for an answer.." he trails off. Hearing this, I look to him with a smirk. "Now you're catching on.." I say with a proud nod. Still confused, mom speaks. "What are you two talking about..?" Mom asks. "Ah, and right on time, too." I say, looking at the time. "Say, mom, why don't we take a nice, relaxing, family walk. Tell you all about it, or rather...show you.." I say, throwing my arm over her shoulders. Although she's clearly worried, she hesitantly nods her head in acceptance.
As we tread the familiar pathway, mom constantly looks around in worry. "You know, we could've saved a bunch of time if you had just told it to me straight." Tyler says to me, slightly annoyed. "You can be smart once in a while, so I knew you'd figure it out. But, don't worry, if you hadn't said something within the next few seconds, I would've." I say, patting his shoulder. "What in God's name are you two talking about, what's going on? Where are we going? What aren't you telling me?" Mom asks, expressing her annoyance. "I already told you, we're just going on a nice, relaxing, family walk. Nothing to worry about." I say, before stopping once we're outside the old Lockwood Cellar. "Now get in." I say, holding open the door. "Why won't you just tell me what's going on?" Mom asks, as Tyler hurries her inside. "Because you need to see it for yourself." Tyler says, grabbing his chains. "What are you doing?" Mom asks nervously. "You think Caroline's a monster? No, we're the monsters, mom." Tyler says. "What..?" Mom asks confused, right before the sound of breaking finds my ears. "Tyler? What's happening?!" Mom asks, covering her mouth. Hearing this, I hurry inside. "Focus on the chains, Ty. Don't need you going ape sh*t before you finish." I say strictly, earning a nod from him. Seeing this, I turn towards mom. "Get in." I say, pointing to the sturdy cell behind her. "N-No!" She says stubbornly. Sighing, I lower my head and shake it. Guess there's no choice.. With that thought, I let my wolven eyes shine. "Get in!" I say strictly. Seeing my eyes glowing, she screams and staggers into the cell, wanting to get away from me.
