The next day..

I sigh and rub my eyes tiredly as I walk down the sidewalk. Last night, I had been unable to sleep a wink, fearing the nightmares that would've surely followed. So, once the sun had risen above the trees, I had left the house, not wanting mom to see the emotional wreck that I had become. Sighing, I shake my head, and continue on my way. Just as I'm passing the Mystic Grill, Jules turns the corner, and stops once she sees me. Seeing her there, my eyes widen. What the hell..? "Rae, have you seen Tyler? I've been looking everywhere for him, and he's not answering his calls either." She says, running up to me. "Tyler..? Why would I..?" I trail off, shaking my head. "Nevermind that, what the hell are you doing back here?!" I ask quickly. Jules furrows her brows in confusion. "Your mom called Tyler's phone, saying she was in an accident and was hospitalized." She explains, making my eyes widen in shock. "What?!" I ask in worry.

A few moments later..

After Jules had explained everything about how Tyler never met up with her after checking in on mom, and wouldn't answer her calls, I got a really bad feeling that just wouldn't go away. So, Jules and I decided to divide and conquer. She would keep looking around town, while I went to ask mom. Skidding to a halt inside the hospital room I was sent to, I quickly hurry over to mom's side. Gently placing my hand on her shoulder, I speak. "Mom.." I say quietly. Hearing this, mom stirs in her sleep, before opening her eyes. "Rae.." she says with a smile. Looking over her bruised body and arm sling, I speak. "Are you alright? What happened..?" I ask concerned. "I fell over the railing...at the top of the stairs this morning...I can't believe I was so clumsy...I must not have slept very well last night.." she explains, making my brows furrow in confusion. Didn't...sleep well..? But when I checked on her this morning, she was sound asleep.. "Oh, honey...I was so scared, but when I woke up in here...Tyler was looking after me. I was so happy to see him again.." she says tiredly, a soft smile rising on her face. Hearing this, I want to ask more, but seeing her tired expression, I decide to make it quick so she could rest. Sighing, I sit at the edge of her bed, cupping her free hand within both of mine.

"Mom, listen

"Mom, listen...I'm sorry I wasn't there for you this morning...I'll make it up to you later, but right now...I need to find Tyler as soon as possible...do you have any idea where he went..?" I ask. As much as I want to stay with her, I can't shake this feeling that something bad happened...and with Klaus at our heels, most likely wanting to break the curse tonight.. I don't finish that thought, fearing I'd jinx it. She's on some pretty heavy pain meds probably, so she most likely won't remember me asking about Ty, the next time she wakes up.. "He said he had to meet up with Jules, your friend...why, is something wrong..?" She asks worriedly. My eyes widen and I quickly shake my head. "No, no, of course not, it's just...uh...I wanna kick his butt for leaving with just a note as warning..!" I lie, hoping it convinced her. Mom gives a small smile, slowly shaking her head. "Alright...I suppose he does deserve it...just...don't be too hard on him, okay..?" She asks. I smile and nod, hopping off the bed, and kissing her forehead. "Get some rest." I say quietly, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze, before walking out of the room.

As I step outside of the hospital, I pull out my phone, and try calling Tyler again. As I do however, the sound of a phone ringing to my left, finds my attention. Having a bad feeling, I slowly turn towards the ringing phone. Seeing it laying on the ground, I walk over to it immediately, and pick it up. Please, please, please don't let it be his.. I silently chant, in hopes that it'd listen. Unfortunately, when I look at the phone screen, my name shows on the caller I.D. Seeing this, dread fills my chest, knowing what that meant. Tyler wouldn't drop his phone accidentally, he uses it for everything...which means.. As I hang up, something else on the ground catches my attention. An empty syringe lay on the ground a few paces away. Furrowing my brow, I pick it up. The hospital staff wouldn't be so careless with their equipment.. Just as I think that, a drop of liquid leaks out of the tip, dripping onto my hand. The moment it make contact with my skin, that area begins to sizzle and burn. I immediately drop the needle, and shake my hand repeatedly in hopes of stopping the pain, before quickly wiping it off on my jacket. Wolfsbane, no doubt about it. Dammit, Klaus must've taken him for his damn ritual. I've gotta find him and convince Klaus to let me switch places..! Cursing under my breath, I call Jules, before hurriedly leaving the parking lot behind.

Elijah's P.O.V.

A couple hours later..

I sigh in disappointment as I make my way through town, towards the Lockwood residence. It is almost time for the Ritual.. As I continue to walk, I cannot help but think about what must be done. It is a shame one such as Ms. Lockwood, has to be sacrificed.  Honorable people such as her are quite rare.. I look back on the events that transpired in the past couple of months. Ever since we met, she has been protecting someone. Whether it be Elena or her family. Even one such as myself; inspite of knowing my intentions to sacrifice her; has been shown her kindness. She could have easily left me to my fate, and yet, she chose to endanger herself by not only removing that dagger, but aiding in my escape that night as well. She even went as far as shedding her own blood to ensure that I made a full recovery.. Sighing, I shake my head. Three times that night, she aided me. She removed the dagger and helped with my escape. She provided me with a new suit. Then, gave her blood to me. I vowed to repay her kindness, yet now that the ritual is here, it seems that debt will never be repaid.. I shake my head in disappointment, turning the corner, and continuing to walk. If there was a way to repay her, I would gladly do so. However, at this moment, there is nothing I can do for her.. As I think that, I notice a familiar face, turning in my direction. That woman.. Leaving my thoughts, I walk towards her.

Leaving my thoughts, I walk towards her
