Chapter 3

I had just gotten off the phone with Kate. She was into this guy and they were dating and she was really into him. They hadn't even really hugged let alone kiss. I could see heartbreak written all over this. I dialed Taylor's number and waited for her to pick up.

"Hey selena!" Taylor exclaimed.

"Hey umm do you have time to talk?" I asked.

"Yah, of course. What's up?" Taylor asked.

"It's about Kate. You know how she's going to Alfaro High school."

"Yah, you told me about that."

"Well she's totally falling hard for this one guy! She doesn't understand what players all those guys are."

"Selena I know what you mean. But you can only advise Kate. She has to learn from her own mistakes. Plus this guy could be nice you never know."

"Haha and write a song about it later." I joked. Taylor started laughing but then got serious again.

"But I'm serious Selena, give her space. As much as I can see you want to be, you can't be her mother. She's almost eighteen."

"I do not want to be her mother! I just want to help her and be that person she can count on and talk too. Because she never had that."

"You just said the definition of mother!"

"Ok ok I'll lay off. But she could do so much better! Justin has a huge crush on her!"

"Oh gosh please don't play cupid. Promise me you won't! You always make things worse. But how do you know Justin has a crush on Kate?"

"I'm not supposed to tell. But he may have asked me on multiple occasions if Kate was single. Also he may have begged me to let him pick Kate up from school tomorrow and i may have said yes."

"Oh my gosh. He's in love!" Taylor exclaimed.

"Oh I know right! It's so cute!" I said. We laughed and then Taylor said she had to go.

I zipped up my bag and then texted Selena that I was ready to get picked up. (I had gotten the phone from Selena.) I walked over to Brian's apartment to say goodbye. It wasn't a forever goodbye because we would get to see each other when we went on dates.

I knocked on the door and it just opened. I walked in and I saw Brian. He was making out with a girl on the couch. I didn't have time to remember any details. I just yelled out some stuff about how he was a cheating jerk and ran out. Brian didn't even care to run out after me. I closed the door of my dorm and slid down the wall. I wiped the tears off my face as I tried to hold myself back from crying. Selena was right I should have been more careful. I felt my phone buzz as I got a text, i took it out of my pocket. It was from Selena she couldn't pick me up, she got caught up with something at work. But Justin was coming instead, and he would be here in like two minutes. I took a deep breath, gathered my stuff and walked out to the front of the school. Justin was already there. He put my stuff in the trunk and we got in the car. I felt like I was in a movie and I was watching myself. I couldn't believe I was so stupid. I really should have listened to Selena.

"So how does it feel to be eighteen?" Justin asked.

"Stupid" I replied.

"Is something wrong?" He asked as his face turned from happy to concerned.

"No"

"Are you sure because you don't seem fine."

"Ok fine, I'm not okay."
