Chapter 20

I get inside my house and throw my keys onto the counter. I can't belive Scooter is happy that Kate is missing. I mean Scooter is Kate's manager, doesn't he care about her? What if Scooter knew about the way the director was treating Kate and didn't do anything about it. What if it was his idea. No, Scooter wouldn't do that right? I can't believe that he wants Kate gone! Justin has to remember Kate. I know he will. He loves her so much that's not just something you forget. My phone buzzes with a text and I lift it up to see it's from Taylor. It's a link to a website. I tap on it and cringe when i see the title. I scroll down forcing myself to not read any of the article. At the bottom is a video of me slapping Scooter. I sigh and exit the page. It's not worth it to read all the awful things people are saying. Scooter deserved that slap and much more. My phone buzzes with another text from Taylor.

'I'm so sorry! :('

'It's alright.' I type back.

'Do you wanna tell me what that was about?' Taylor asks

'Why don't you just come over and we can talk about it.' I reply.

'Okay, i'll be over soon. Can i bring Meredith?'

'Lol yes!' I type back smiling. Pretty soon Taylor arrives with Meredith her cat.

"So do you want to tell me why you slapped Scooter now?" Taylor asks giving me a hug.

"Yeah, well you know Justin's in the hospital." I say. Taylor nods her head. "Well, Kate is not at the hospital which means she wasn't on the plane. And since she wasn't on the plane no one knows where she is except Justin. But, Justin has amnesia and its bad. He doesn't even remember who Kate is. So until Justin remembers or Kate decides to contact one of us, we don't know where she is."

"Wait! Sorry, but Justin doesn't remember Kate at all? Doesn't that seem a little weird to you?" Taylor asks skeptically.

"Well, he was in a plane crash. I mean a couple people died on the plane. He must've hit his head really hard."

"Some people died... That's so sad. Anyways why did you slap Scooter?'

"Well, he was saying all this crap about how it's a good thing Kate is missing." I reply.

"That's so weird."

"I know right, I'm just worried about Kate and Justin. I mean, Kate was in the hospital because she was starving herself! And then all of a sudden there's a fire at the hospital and she's not there anymore and then Justin gets on a plane without Kate and it crashes. Something doesn't add up. It's just so weird! I just want Kate to call me or someone and let them know she's alright." i explain.

"Well, Selena to be honest. This is a really weird circumstance you're in. But then again it's Justin and Kate. I'm sure everything will work out. It always does."

"On the outside it looks fine Taylor. When Justin found Kate in that alley way. Yes, she was hurt and scared. But she wasn't damaged. No matter how much we try to deny it. Kate came into our world and it ruined her. The light inside her has vanished and it'll never come back. She broken and not even Justin can fix her." I say tears forming in my eyes.

"Selena, you don't know that. Kate will figure it out. And whatever happens I know she'll be fine. I know this is hard for you, but maybe you should just focus on yourself. Selena you haven't gone to to you therapist in awhile now. I think you need to take time for yourself. You keep trying to help everyone but in the process you're hurting yourself. I'm not saying don't care. I just want you to realize that there isn't really much you can do and worrying and stressing over it isn't going to help." Taylor explains.

"I guess you're right there isn't anything I can do. I can't help Kate or Justin. It's not in my hands anymore." I reply sighing.

"I'm glad you realize that." Taylor says.

"I mean all I can do is be there for them. Pretty soon people are gonna find out that Justin is in the hospital and what happened. And as soon as Kate finds out whatever 'space' she and Justin are taking will be over. She'll come right back here to see how's he's doing."

"Okay, since clearly you're not gonna stop stressing over Kate and Justin ya know what we're going to do?" Taylor asks getting up.

"What?" I ask thoroughly confused.

"We're gonna bake Justin a cake!" Taylor exclaims bounding away to the kitchen. I laugh and follow her to the kitchen. We spend the next half an hour making a huge mess of my kitchen.

"I can smell it." I say as Taylor and I paint our nails.

"I know, it smells so good." Taylor replies.

"I think we're going to have to eat it with Justin." I say.

"I think you're right." Taylor replies laughing.

"Justin! We brought you a cake!" I exclaim showing it to him.

"Thanks!" he exclaims grinning.

"So, how are things with you?" I ask setting the cake down on the circle shaped table in the room.

"Good, really good I'I remember. I can't believe I forgot her. I forgot Kate. I forgot forgot her and now she's dead." He says sobbing. "Kate, she wasn't on the plane with me. I thought she was back home. So I got on a plane. But if Kate's not here. Then she's she must still have been in the hospital." Justin says and throws the cover off the bed and races out of the hospital room. Taylor and I chase after him down the hallway. He finally stops running when he reaches the lobby.

"Where are you going?" I ask as I try to catch my breath.

"I need to get to police station now." He replies.

"Why?!" I ask bewildered.

"Kate's dead." He says and tear slips down his cheek.

"Justin no. She's not dead."

"Kate was still in the hospital when I left. The firefighters just never found her." Justin practically wails.

"O'ok let's go." I say and walk to the parking garage. I pull out my keys and notice that my hands are trembling. I take a deep breath and hand the keys to Taylor. There is absolutely no way I could drive right now. We arrive at the police station and Justin is taken into a room to give a statement. We all end up getting interrogated and it's really late by the time we get back home.

I don't know what to think. None of this makes sense. It's all just so, bad. I don't think Kate is dead. There's no way she could be. I won't believe it. The police officers said there was a really small chance that Kate is alive. They said that because she's so famous someone would have spotted her by now and taken a picture. They say the only logical explanation is that she's dead. But what the police don't know is that with Kate nothing is ever logical.

I am SO incredibly sorry about the extremely slow update!!! I love you all and I hope you guys understand that I hate making such slow updates. It's just it seems like it would take me just 20 min to write a chapter. But it actually takes me a really long time. So I'm so sorry. But I promise that the updates will come sooner. And you will find out what happened to Kate very very soon. I love you all. So sorry about the grammatical errors!! Thank you to those that understand.
