Chapter 25, You Won A Fight
(Ep. 5: The Flayed)

The tunnels were an endless maze.

They had been walking for what seemed to be a very long time and there was still no sign of this continuous cycle ending. There was nothing left to do other than throw ideas out there about what the green substance could possibly be. This mall was definitely not made to carry just retail stores and restaurants, but to instead transport whatever was in those vials to the Red Army and perhaps even more.

"You think they built this whole mall so they could transport that green poison?" Steve asked for better clarification, still startled at the fact his workplace could be involved in something as sneaky as this.

"I doubt it's something as boring as poison," Gwen thought aloud, her blue eyes meeting Dustin's, who was thinking the same thing.

"It's gotta be much more valuable, like promethium or something," Dustin added.

Steve narrowed his eyes, confused, "What the hell is promethium?"

Robin groaned in annoyance, "It's what Victor Stone's dad used to make Cyborg's bionic and cybernetic components."

Beside her, Daphne discreetly smiled at her haste explanation, but it seemed she was the only Sinclair to be impressed.

"You're all so nerdy, it makes me physically ill," Erica glared at them and shook her head in disappointment.

"No, no, no. Don't lump me in with them," Steve interjected, offended at being considered anything but cool. "I'm not a nerd-"

"Yeah, we figured," Daphne laughed.

The rest did as well.

Steve only shot her a look, "So funny, Sinclair."

"There's nothing wrong in being a nerd," Gwen was reminded of the times when she was made fun of because of it. Now, she was heading to New York while her previous bullies remained stuck. If anything, being a nerd was her ticket out of Hawkins, so she wouldn't hide what brought her success. "Just take pride in it."

Steve sighed dramatically, "I mean, sure. There's nothing wrong in being a nerd, but I'm just saying I don't know jack shit about Prometheus."

"Promethium," Dustin corrected.

"And Prometheus was a Titan, who became known for defying the Gods by giving fire to humanity," Gwen added, causing Erica to glare up at her.

"It's like I'm surrounded by another one of him," Erica pointed at Dustin, slightly shifting further away from the Henderson siblings.

"Not even close," Dustin retorted, a tinge of teasing in his tone.

Gwen didn't bat an eye to his obvious attempt at creating an argument. She was already tired from walking endlessly and no longer had the energy, but she was still an older sister. It wouldn't need to be grand, but just something to push his buttons, "He wishes he could have my intellect, but not everyone can be so fortunate."
