—RAIN—

- he loves reading, so he understands wanting to finish a book when you're close to the end.

you looked up as you heard rain mumble something in his sleep as he rolled over, reaching to your side of the bed.

you smiled softly, shaking your head and settling more into the armchair you were lounged in as you continued reading.

though after a few moments, you heard patting on the bed.

you looked over, seeing rain scrunch up his nose as he searched around your side of the bed with his hand.

"y/n.." rain mumbled, reaching further for you. you bit the inside of your cheek as you put your bookmark in place. rain's hand went over the edge of the bed and he opened his eyes, looking around the room and landing on you throwing your blanket off and standing from the armchair.

"dove.." rain whined slightly, confused as to why you were so far away. you smiled, setting your book on the desk and climbing into bed next to your boyfriend.

"what were you doing..?" rain asked, moving so he was laying on top of you, his face buried in your collar bone.

"just finishing up a book." you whispered softly. rain hummed,
already falling back asleep.

—MOUNTAIN—

- you were out in the gardens under some fairy lights that had been left out from a previous siblings picnic.
- they obviously got in trouble for not cleaning up properly, but you tended to sit under them at night quite often.
- mountain knew this and went there first thing to find you when he came back from a meeting that ran late and you weren't at the room.

"love, what're you doing out here??" mountain asked, a slightly panicked tone in his voice as he startled you by wrapping a blanket around you.

you looked up at him then back at your book, realizing you had finished it.

"i was reading." you said, looking back up at the earth ghoul.

he sighed, standing you up and adjusting the blanket around you before hugging you tightly.

"what's wrong?" you asked, hugging mountain back. "it's 3 am, 37° out, and you weren't in our room when i got back from my meeting with the upper clergy and copia." mountain sighed.

"i'm sorry. i would've come in if i realized how cold it was." you mumbled, feeling the exhaustion of staying up this late start to catch up with you. "y/n, it is 5° above freezing! how are you not cold?!" mountain asked, pulling away from the hug and looking down at you. you smiled softly and shrugged.

"we should go inside, though." you said. mountain sighed softly, leaning down and kissing you for a moment before guiding you inside.

- he woke up in the middle of the night and saw you reading next to him.
- it was one of your favorite books to read together so he watched you smile and giggle softly whenever he would usually use a funny voice when reading.
- then he started to get tired again and had you lay down and go to sleep.
