"hey, baby doll." a familiar earth ghoul said as he walked over to me in the library.

my body immediately tensed up as i shyly turned around, praying to satan my mask was covering the fiery blush on my face.

"hey, mountain." i smiled, trying not to show how nervous i was.

this damned ghoul had been relentlessly flirting with me ever since i was summoned.

of course, he was more gentle with it for the first month or two, but once it was clear i was comfortable, he went full force with the flirting.

"how are you?" i continued, but immediately wished i hadn't as i saw a smirk grow on his face.

"i was alright, but i'm better now that i'm with you." he grinned, stepping closer to me. i swallowed harshly, staring up at him as i almost dropped the books in my arms.

of course i set him up for shit like that.. i thought to myself.

"mhm.." i squeaked out. "well, uh, that's good." i continued, trying to smile before whipping around and quickly shuffling away to a bookshelf. mountain followed, like he always did.

"how are you, petal?" mountain asked, leaning down slightly to look at the books i was putting away. i felt a chill run down my spine at the sound of his voice so close to my ear.

"oh, uh- y'know, fine. work is fine." i sputtered out, embarrassing myself. i held myself back from slamming my head into the shelf, quickly moving away to try and escape the embarrassment of how awful i was at responding to the earth ghoul.

"just fine? do you just put books away all day? doesn't that get boring?" mountain asked, following closely. i took a deep breath, trying to be as subtle as possible.

"no, i do other library.. things." i mumbled, trying to make my job sound less lame than it was.

he was right. all i did was put books away all day. and if there weren't any books to put away, then i was running errands that had been left by the head librarian.

i wasn't anyone's assistant, i had no direct ties to the upper clergy like most ghouls did, and when i wasn't working, i just stayed in my room because i didn't have any friends.

mountain never hung out with me other than when he would follow me around the library.

i guess he smiled at me in the halls sometimes..

"yeah? like what? this place is cool and i wanna know more about what my favorite ghoulette does." mountain smiled, trying to make eye contact with me as i stopped at another book shelf.

"uh... i put away books.. and, um.. books." i mumbled, feeling my face heat up even more.

satan, y/n, just stop being embarrassing! this guy likes you and all you can do is mess up the conversation. i scolded myself.

"books? is that all?" mountain laughed. "you just said you do other stuff." mountain grinned, walking up behind me and pressing his chest to my back as he hugged me.
