AFTER 4 YEARS...

I WAS fishing out the key from my bag ng mag-ring ang phone ko.

"Yes Deej?" Binuksan ko na ang pinto ng condo unit.

"Babe! I got good news!"

"Really? What is it?" I took off my shoes and went straight to the kitchen barefooted to get a glass of water.

"I closed the deal!" He announced excitedly.

"Aww. Congrats! I told you, you can do it." It was his very first major deal after he graduated and passed the board exam. After working in his family company kasi he decided with Jared na magtayo ng sarili nilang firm, gusto daw nila makilala with their own name not because of their family background.

"Where are you?" He asked.

"Just got home."

"Alright, I'll be home soon. Bye! I love you."

"Love you too."

I put my hair in a bun and wear an apron, mag-prepare na muna ako ng dinner para pagdating ni DJ ready na. I marinate a steak and put it in the oven tsaka ako naggawa ng potato salad for a side dish.

While waiting for the steak to finish cooking ay nagready na rin ako, I took a quick shower and changed to my button down dress. Palabas na ako ng kwarto ng madaan ng tingin ko ang painting ni DJ na nakasabit sa kwarto niya the same painting na nakatalikod kaming dalawa standing at the sidewalk while I'm holding a yellow umbrella, tinitigan ko muna iyon bago tuluyan lumabas ng kwarto. Inayos ko na rin ang dining table and put a wine in the chiller.

I was taking out the steak from the oven ng marinig kong bumukas-sara ang pinto.

"I'm home!" DJ announced.

Napangiti ako, "Kitchen babe!"

Hindi nagtagal ay sumilip siya sa kitchen, with his jacket on his shoulder and his tie undone, lumapit kaagad siya and give me a quick kiss at kinuha mula sa akin ang hawak at siya na mismo naglagay ng steak sa plato. Kinuha ko naman ang jacket niya at maayos na isinampay sa sandalan ng upuan.

Nang matapos na siya sa paglalagay ng steak sa plate ay yumakap agad ako sa leeg niya, "Congratulations Bally!"

He wrapped his arms on my waist. "Do I get a celebratory kiss?"

I pull his head down and kiss him na agad ko rin pinutol much to his annoyance. "Let's have dinner first."

"I can have you for dinner."

Pinisil ko ang ilong niya, "No you can't."

Akmang hahalikan niya ulit ako nang ilayo ko ang mukha sa kanya and he groaned.

"Come on, I'm hungry."

"Tsh...pasalamat ka." Binitawan na niya ako at inalalayan umupo.

"Thank you!" I grin.

The dinner went smoothly, hindi na nangulit si DJ he just asked me about my day and my office. Kinwento rin niya sa akin ang nai-close niyang deal with the Padilla and the hotel na ipapatayo nila.

AFTER dinner ay nanuod kami ng random shows sa TV sa sala, he's cuddling me of course habang nasa couch kami.

"Bal..." Malambing na tawag niya.
