*beep. Beep. Beep. Beep...*
The continuous beeping of the machine is becoming louder and louder as I'm coming back to myself, slowly waking up.
I wanted to open my eyes, but they felt so heavy, refusing to cooperate.
'Ji- Jimin...' I called his name, whispering. I think I did at least. I know where I am. And I know he should be here. But either he's not, or I'm not talking, because he's not responding.
It took me a minute to flutter my eyes open, and the bright ceiling light made me squint. Why do hospitals always have such strong lighting? I'm half blind. It feels like coming out of the longest, darkest tunnel into the bright sunlight. Like a flashbang.
'Mmm...Jimin..' I speak again. I guess I made some noise this time because he spoke
'Good morning, baby. Or evening.' He giggles from my left side, gently taking my left hand
I wanted to move and look at him but that anaesthesia is damn strong. It feels like I've been knocked out.
'Don't move, baby, I'm right here. It's okay. You just rest. I'm not going anywhere.' He spoke softly and then I felt his soft lips at the back of my hand
'How long was I out?' I ask after a minute when I felt like I could speak
'The surgery took about 2 hours, and you've been asleep for an hour after. So not that long. The doctor said you will be just fine. They fixed all of it, but you do have a little metal screw in your finger now as it's been crushed.' He explains
'Now I'm a real terminator.' I smile at my own joke, still a bit weak to laugh
He started laughing, squeezing my hand as he did. 'You are such an idiot.' He snorts a little. 'But yes, you are an actual terminator now.' He keeps laughing
'Is the date romantic enough for you yet?' I joke a little, now able to look at him
'I couldn't plan a better one if I tried.' He was smiling brightly, looking back at me
'When can I go home?'
'They said they'll keep you for at least 5 days to see how everything is going.'
'Can you sneak me out?' I beg
He chuckled at me, 'I'm pretty sure that is illegal. And not good for you. It's only a few days. I'll be right here with you.' He says as he's caressing my hand
'You need to take care of yourself, too.' I scold him
'Don't worry about me. I'm more than okay. You just focus on resting so I can take you home. As fun as this date is, I have something planned for you once you're out of here.' He smiles
'Really?' I did not expect that
'Of course. It's like you don't know me.' He jokes
'I suppose you're right.' I smile
He's right. He is constantly surprising me with something. Over the last year, he's done so many unexpected things that made me melt. He would bring me a flower out of nowhere, purely because he saw it and it reminded him of me because it's pretty. He baked me a cake for my birthday. He got us new black belts, matching ones. They have our names engraved on them, in the same font and colour. So many things he's done for me, not counting cute things like making breakfast and getting me my favourite snacks when I'm on my period and such. He's genuinely perfect.
'You just rest, sleep through it. You'll be home in no time.'
-----
'We will see you back here next week, Thursday. You are young so it should heal fast, just be careful not to hit yourself.' The doctor was just signing my release papers, letting me go home.
