"What was Rob thinking?" You will ask. Well, as mentioned in previous chapters, specifically the part where Rob's psychiatrist mentioned that he was bipolar, mentally dysfunctional, parallel, and effed-up in the brain, amidst the noise of repeated clapping and hammering. Let us resume the journey beneath the Congo River and yes, what a wonderful world this could be...
Rob's eyes swell up and streams of tears begin to fall down his cheeks because not only did he kill someone who he could open up to, but for Romney, who instructed him to kill his infamous buddy in order to claim a higher percentage of the treasure. All this, just for jewels and federal notes and whatever else. All along, Black was being played by someone he could trust; that hurt tremendously. Corruption, greed, and backstabbing are the three factors of this so-called "game" in order to survive; and Rob has done plenty more than just three simple things so he can remain in the "high-life" permanently. Therefore, in the mindset of Rob, Romney is the definition of a bastard. I mean, it's not like Rob had a choice, considering the fact that his mentality is demolished.
"Final guy on the list." He says, sniffing then coughing. "Time to go look for that treasure and complete the job. It's worthless now, but what's done is done. Hasta la vista," said Rob, attempting to console himself and supposedly rid the scum from his conscience along with confirming his decision to proceed. He then gradually descends beneath the "ocean" as a ship appears out of the blue.
As he lands on the deck of the ship he notices that what appears to be the captain, has a cracked skull. You most likely would assume that this was due to its decomposition and age but according to Rob "he was beheaded". Fright tightly wrapped around Rob's heart as it beat quickly. He had the natural instinct to leave, but somehow summoned the bravery to complete the task. So, he decides to explore the abandoned ship and intends to plunder it.
Rob creaks open a door and finds similar skeletons sustaining the same injuries. He then inspects the skeletons, "Could it have been some sort of raid or severe damage to the ship that could've caused this?" Rob looks around and finds another map that bears words in bold, red ink strewn across it. "You must leave," he read. All of a sudden, an eerie voice is heard, chanting something in a foreign language. Rob couldn't determine if it was coming from the, outside or vice versa. "Ha ha ha ha," the voice whispered. Rob busts through multiple doors, searching for this mysterious voice. Upon opening the last door, what appears to be an awakened skeleton, lunges at Rob, thirsty for his essence, or so it seemed. "The captain!" Sharply exhales Rob. "Oh crap!" Rob then shoots the captain with his gun. The sound of the gun must've awakened the others. Gotta get out of here... And fast! Ahhh, the windows are too tough to crack! Various groans are heard on either side of Rob. "A latch!" He cranks it open with enough force only to see even more awakened pirates trying to eat him. He then shoots them, which temporarily stopped this sudden uprising. Luckily, he was able to climb quickly enough to escape the mob of dead pirates and kill some along the way. Rob rushes through doors, looking for a quick exit. He then finds the way he came from and quickly reached for the doorknob. "Come on, come on!" it unlocked. A pirate then grabbed hold of Rob and bit him in the ankle, aiming for the neck, trying to impale him, while Rob tried to shake it off. He then quickly hits the skeleton with a forceful punch and flees the mob scene. Rob effortlessly and courageously jumps off the ship and swims for his life.
The ghouls make crunching noises as they get close to Rob. "It's too far up, can't...make... it..." whispers Rob, now gasping for breath with fear in his eyes. He then descends to the ocean's floor with a loud thud.
