The Marauders have grown up. – if only their old Head Teacher McGonagall could see them today! Law-abiding citizens (mostly) with jobs (allegedly) and friends (primarily the same as they had in school.) They are so mature (kind of) and well adjusted (or as Remus says: Money makes things a lot easier).

They tell themselves how good they are doing and truly, they are doing better than their teachers ever thought they would – granted, they had a bet about which one of them would die first. They were sure it would be: Sirius, motorbike accident, age 21. – He did come close when he was 20, which led to Remus almost selling the damn thing while Sirius was in the hospital.

All in all, they are living their best adult lives. Remus and Sirius, 25 and 26 respectively (and thus outliving everyone's expectations), are living together and just celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Remus loves his grammar school teaching job and Sirius gives guitar and piano lessons to kids for a living. Peter, mostly uninterested in romance, works as an IT specialist with the police and regularly participates in national chess tournaments. Then there is James. The designated Ted Mosby of the group – yearning for love and The One but never in luck. James hates the comparison. Ted Mosby was a dick, and he would never treat his partners as shitty as that guy. Would he sit down his kids for nine years to tell them the grand love story of how he met his person? Probably.

The four childhood friends try to come together at least one weekend a month for Boys Night. They see each other far more regularly than that. James and Sirius get Lunch all the time, and James and Peter go to Football games together, but all 4 in the same place at the same time? It's hard.

It is their April Boys Night. They are hanging out in Sirius' and Remus' flat, talking and playing on the Switch for hours.

Sirius is rather distracted at the moment, typing on his phone.

"What are you doing there the entire time?" James asks when he comes back from a snack run in the kitchen. He hands Peter a bowl of crisps.

"Texting Reggie. The lazy sod didn't answer for over two hours though we were in the middle of a conversation. I hate him sometimes."

"For two entire hours. Oh no," Peter rolls his eyes.

"And the messages didn't even go through. When we were younger and he didn't want to talk to me anymore, he always put his phone into flight mode. I hated it. I thought he grew out of that."

James looks up at the words flight mode. He fights the smile that wants to creep on his face. "Isn't Reggie coming to visit next week?"

"Yeah, Monday morning. And he again refuses to stay with us or tell me what hotel he is staying at."

"Probably because he doesn't want to hear you shagging each other's brains out." Peter looks pointedly at Sirius and Remus, "Speaking from experience, he is making the right choice in not sharing a sleeping space with you."

Remus grins and steals a handful of crisps from him.

"James, don't forget, we're watching SIX on Wednesday. It's the only musical I got him to agree too."
