You stumbled around the kitchen, grabbing the ingredients for your grandmother's fried rice that you had the recipe for. Stolen from your parents years ago when you moved out, you just couldn't leave that information behind. You shook your son off your leg as you walked back and forth between the cutting board and the stove. "Domonic please, momma's trying to cook right now." You sighed, lightly pushing him away but he didn't budge and just kept coming back. You rolled your eyes and kept cooking, adding a little bit of soy sauce to the pan of rice, cracking a few eggs over it, and adding the vegetables after. You put a cover over rice and opened the kitchen window, the whole house smelled like you were cooking and it was getting a bit much for you. "Simon! Can you come and get your son, I don't want him to get hurt while I'm cooking!" you yelled, flipping the rice and adding the chicken to the pan. "Coming," he said as he walked into the kitchen, taking the boy into his arms. "It smells nice in here, what is ya cookin'?" He hummed, placing a kiss on your cheek. "Grandma's fried rice." you smiled, giving him a kiss back but the moment was ruined by your son making a gagging noise. "Oh calm down.." You sighed, taking the food off the heat and covering it.
"Plate the food and make sure Domonic eats. I need to take my medicine" You waved your husband off, walking to the bathroom and opening your drawer, picking up your box, and unlocking it. You collected the pills you needed to take and popped them in your mouth, downing them with some of the sink water.
You walked back to the dining table and sat down, the plates already placed down on the table for the 3 of you. "Thank you." You smiled and took a seat, looking at your son who was already showing spoonfuls of rice in his mouth. "Domonic! You're going to choke if you keep doing that" Simon scolded, taking the spoon from him "Daddy give it back!" the boy cried, rice all around his mouth. "If you keep doing that I'm going to feed you." he glared at the boy, handing the spoon back. "No." He lifted the plate off the table and moved so he was under it. You held back your giggles, covering your mouth. You both ate your food, the sound of your son's spoon hitting the plate the only noise in the room.
"Mommy.." He tugged on your shorts, looking at you from under the table "Yes my love?" You looked down at him "I want more.." He had a slight frown on his face, motioning toward his empty plate. "Okay, let's go get more then" You placed your spoon down and stood up, waiting for him to get out from under the table.
You stood at the stove, putting a few more scoops of rice on his plate. "Are you going back under the table baby?" You handed him the plate. "Yeah" He smiled, running back to his spot under the table right by his father's feet. You rolled your eyes and went back to your seat to finish off your food, a smile on your face the whole time.
Dinner ended with you and Simon having to split the food your son couldn't finish off.
You put the leftovers into containers and into the fridge, going around and putting everything away as Simon washed the dishes and put them away. After everything was cleaned and neatly put away you went and wrapped your arms around your husband, pressing your face into his back. "I love you" You mumbled "I love you too" He laughed, turning around and hugging you back. "And thank you for dinner, it was wonderful" He leaned down, placing a kiss on your lips. The kiss was a long one, just a simple gesture but neither of you wanted to pull away.
"Ewwwwww! Gross!"
"God damn it Domonic!"
