This is it...

You mumbled, your finger gently gliding over your c-section scar. You hadn't accepted how your body now looked after your second child, your body so different. It was so foreign every time you looked in the mirror, it wasn't like you hated how your body looked but it was just hard getting used to the look of it. You sighed and put on your favorite shirt, moving to the window and looking out into your front lawn, the warm sun rays hitting your face.

The giggles of both of your children made you smile as their father sat in the grass with them, tossing water balloons at your oldest, your youngest crawling around behind him. You stood there, arms crossed over your chest as you just watched the three play. It was such a sweet sight, how could this man who was once a cold-blooded military lieutenant be such a loving father...

You picked up your polaroid camera, taking a few photos from your window. They weren't the best but it captured the scene, the joy on their perfect faces.

You set the photo of your family into a new frame, setting it on your nightstand. It was a professional photo, everyone looked perfect. Not like they wouldn't either way. You ran your thumb over each of their faces, a faint smile on your lips.

My heart only beats for you...my heart living outside of my body.

You pulled away from the photo and sighed, running your fingers through your hair. You Walked out of your room and down to where the rest of your family was. "Mamma!" your boy squealed, waving his hand at you frantically, he was always so dramatic. You loved it. "Hi baby!" you squealed back, walking over to where he sat on the couch and picking him up. You were still able to pick up the boy who seemed to be growing up way too fast. "God baby...You're growing up too fast" You peppered kisses all over his face, his hands pushing you away when you overwhelmed him. "Stopppp!" he whined, kicking frantically for you to put him down. "Fineee but just know mamma loves you." You smiled, placing him back down on the couch and patting his head. He let out a huff, turning away from you before climbing over the couch and running off into the kitchen.

You took a seat next to Simon, looking down at the baby in his lap who was sleeping so peacefully. You rubbed the baby's soft cheeks, your heart melting in your hands at the soft whines that left their mouth. "You're going to wake 'em up," he stated, a soft laugh behind the sentence. "Oh shut up." You smiled, pulling your hand away. You leaned back into the plush cushions of the couch, leaning against Simon too. "Hold on." You looked up at him with confusion as he got up to go put the baby in the little cradle that was set out in the corner. You laughed, the big man putting such a small child into a pretty pink cradle was just so hilarious to you. "Quit laughing so loud, it took me too long to get him to sleep." He placed a small blanket over the child and walked back to you.

"I know how it feels. I'm so glad he sleeps through the night now, I hated those sleepless nights." You got up and brought him into a tight embrace, your head resting against his chest.

You rocked the crib gently, making sure the child was fully out for the night. After he was fully asleep you got up and opened your bedroom window, the cool night breeze feeling wonderful against your skin "Come to bed honey." Simon mumbled to you, rolling over to look at your figure by the window. "I will." You grinned at him, walking over to your closet and taking off your shirt, hanging it back up, and closing it. You walked back to your bed but you caught a glance of yourself in the mirror, a wave of familiar feeling rushing back over you. Your hands go to your scar, disgust hitting you like a train. You stood there in front of the mirror for longer than you would have liked, looking at everything you wished would be different.

You must have zoned out because you hadn't noticed Simon grab your wrists and pull your hands away from your lower stomach. "Darling, what's wrong?" He mumbled to you, his eyes drowsy but still so soft and full of that love you knew so very well. "Nothing, let's go to bed." You smiled at him, pulling your wrists away and getting into bed, pulling the blanket over yourself.

The bed sunk behind you, arms wrapping around your body and pulling you close. "I love you, honey..." he mumbled to you, soft kisses being placed on your shoulders and back. "I love all of you..." You smiled, his words soothing the thoughts that ran through your mind just seconds ago.

"I think you look beautiful with that scar..those stretch marks, you held our children so why be ashamed?" He spoke into your soft skin, his face pressed into the crook of your neck.

"I don't know Simon...I just look so different than before."

"You changed for the better sweetheart."

"I know..."

"Was the change worth it to you?"

You thought about your children's happy yells, giggles, and cries. The nights you stayed up with them and took care of them, the rollercoaster of emotions with them.

It was worth it.
